Went out in the middle of the night yesterday to catch the noise and perhaps the truck driver.
But on my way out the noise stopped. Maybe he managed to drive away?
But there was another man outside Lidl! Someone with a big black van with open doors. He took all the huge Lidl posters with their metal frames and threw them onto the ground.
I stood behind the bushes at the parking lot across the road watching him. Weird experience. It was freezing cold, which could be seen on the windscreens of the cars.
Then I went back.

Addition: I have NOT yet ruled out the possibility of two sound sources.
The Lidl trucks and their freezer storage at night.
and possibly
A nearby neighbour with some Air Conditioner and/or Air Cleaning equipment.
On my way out to Lidl last night, I stopped outside every appartment door to listen. I just find it odd, the sound stopped on my way out ... It had been on for 15-20 mins before.

The shitty noise is ON now as well.
But I won't go out again, I guess.
To put two pillows on my head might help.

Would this be any help? play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamebasic.decibel&hl=en_GB I think there are ios versions too. If it's the frequency rather than the volume I guess not. At least for your own records you could check the ON/OFF noise levels then maybe take them to whoever can help?

Is it the same one vehicle causing the problem? Have you talked with the store management, perhaps there's a solution that can accommodate all parties? I think you need to stop skulking around and try to effect a solution before you go completely crazy Musik--the store can't help you if they don't know there's a problem. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I've escaped the area now. Hopefully it won't turn up as an ear worm now as well.
Mail to them.

Quick, but long reply from them, customer service. They explain why they have deliveries during the night. Environmental reasons.
The issue has been handed to the store in question. They say they will look for a solution.

^ Good for you Musik. Get the wheels turning towards a solution, hope they can figure something out...may be as simple as somehow supplying power to the truck as it off-loads so it doesn't need to keep the engine running.
BTW, I was wondering why environmental reasons are different at night, did they expand on the details?

BTW, I was wondering why environmental reasons are different at night, did they expand on the details? Yes they did, said less traffic during the night, so the trucks don't have to "stop and go" on their way to the store. But I don't know how the off-loading works in detail yet. Let's see how it ends. The customer service dpt said the customer service dpt can't promise anything. I'm one of their regular customers, not exclusively though, I shop at 5 different shops.

This low frequency seems to "follow" me. 😡🤯
Now it's at my place. I hear it especially when there's not many other sounds present, so at evenings, nights and early mornings are a nightmare.
I think I know what it is this time though ...
Cars. Motor sounds. They're driving me nuts.
It's the new traffic lights and zebra crossings that doesn't fit each other - so cars can end up in queues with their motors running, waiting for the green light. But it can take as long as one minute before it does.
brum brum brum brum brum brum brum brum brum Endlessly.
We live in 2023, but still they haven't managed to produce completely silent vehicles. Scandal! To me it seems they sound even more now than fifty years ago. Or maybe there are just more of them.

So a cat purring is right out then... I don't get this. Out of what? I can guarantee you won't hear a cat's purring when the cars are outside.

Sorry...an abbreviated phrase "it would be out of the question" or a nonstarter. I thought a cat's purring would be annoying to you given your sensitivity to low freqs.

I thought a cat's purring would be annoying to you given your sensitivity to low freqs. A cat is no problem. The annoying traffic sounds are of much lower frequencies I suppose. And above all, of a much much higher volume to me. Sometimes they affect my window glasses. But at the same time, some other people don't hear them as much.

Are you sure it isn't the Herreys new CD?
I hear it all the time, noises not the Herreys as Tinnitus and sometimes think people are hoovering at 4am. Listening to my Haircuts records at full volume in the 80s must have caused it
There's a town in the States where the whole place hears a strange noise but they've never sussed out what it was

Yesterday I found it!
Now at last I know where that awful low frequency noise comes from. I had finished my physio neck rehabilitation pass with my young female physio therapist and took a walk home. I was kind of stiff, and when I got halfway to my place I heard the noise. It was absolutely awful. I noticed that not all but some of the people walking heard it. I seemed to suffer the most. It was like my whole head was filled with it, and as if my body was shaking.
A distant heating plant.
They make distant heating during the cold months and distant cooling from the river during the warm period.
It's just 400-500 meters from my place.
I've never heard the noise from there before, I have passed many times, but apparently they had a heating pass going on there and then. And obviously, they have those passes mostly during the nights when I try to sleep.
I remember I was thinking, bl@@dy h#ll(!), it's hard to even imagine having an appartment next to it, like 50 meters away. They shouldn't be paying rent, they should be given money.

Even though we live in a modern era and development exists in different fields, it seems like the noise level in the society only increases - and noone asks why.
