someone who was constantly kept awake by a low rumble many people COULDN'T HEAR. It got louder and louder and then more people could hear it. It took years to figure out it was a nearby data centre, loudening as it expanded. Typical. Harder to get the Environment Dpt (Miljöförvaltningen) that handles noise complaints here to do anything about it then.

How does a anti-snoaring, CPAP machine sound? I have noticed the old man below doesn't snoar anymore. Maybe he has bought a CPAP anti-snoaring machine in the spring, that makes this terrorlike low freq noise? He and the wife had been on the country side for a few days. Then we had no noise here. My CPAP is quiet. If I turn off my white noise machine, all I hear is the air escaping the CPAP hose outlet, which changes as you breathe, so no the CPAP is probably not your issue. My stint in the Navy and being berthed aft on a destroyer cured me of waking up at the slightest noises, in fact I like a low hum, continuous noise--puts me to sleep. My brother swears by meditation, perhaps you should look into it, maybe lower some stress you may have or are unaware of...

On the Cardiff there was 6 bunks just off the main bar area in the PO's mess, lucky for them the air cooler/fan (did we call them "tanflo's" or something similar?) was so noisy it drowned out any noise from the bar. Problem was they all had trouble sleeping without that noise when they were elsewhere I actually got used to the TV being on 24/7 about 3 feet from the foot of my bunk on one Gulf deployment. Any risk of noise nowadays and I stick the little foam earplugs in, I never travel without them

How much beer/ale is allotted daily/weekly per sailor on a Royal Navy vessel?

How much beer/ale is allotted daily/weekly per sailor on a Royal Navy vessel? Ah, didn't realise, sorry, had some brilliant times on the piss with your chaps in various spots The official line for Junior Rates was 3 cans per man per day maximum could be purchased the size of cans seemingly not entering the equation. The reality was that some drank a lot and some didn't, in the one JR mess I was in and the several I visited as a guest the rules had little effect. In the Senior Rates mess we had draught beer, usually one lager, one bitter, sometimes cider and the basic spirits but no wine (we had to do deals with the officers on the QT for that) We were allowed to buy 3 measures of any spirit each per day at sea or in harbour as well as 2 pints of beer in harbour and 4 pints at sea, could have been the other way around with the beer but it didn't matter, nobody took any notice in reality, if you'd drank well over your allowance you could pretend it was your wedding anniversary and celebrate by buying a barrel "for the mess" as long as the bar manager was an ok bloke I think the 3 cans was in lieu of the tot" in 1970, typical of the forces, take something away you were getting for free and charge you for the replacement

Sunday Evening Report
No Question mark left.
Tonight at 20.45 we all heard the sound again at our Mother's place, and in three different rooms, so I went out to chase it on my own and finally found the source!
I have thought it was the neighbours below and some CPAP-machine, but no. However, when I got to the first floor here, the sound increased dramatically. At the appartment to the right the wall was vibrating, when I hold my hand next to the door. What the heck is he doing in there, I thought. But the clock was 20.45 and I had just 15 mins to buy some chocolate bars for the Sevilla vs Man Utd game on tv, before Lidl closed. To my surprise, when I opened the door to go through the yard, the noise, the low freq sound, increased.
I passed the grass and came closer to the Lidl Big store and now I had to hold my hands on my ears. The same low freq sound that had kept me and my brother and sometimes my mother awake as well for so long this year, and that had made the wall vibrate on the first floor as well a minute ago. Poor sod in there btw!
What was it then??
A bloody huge long lorry.
With no driver in the driver's seat. It just stood there next to the Lidl big store, vibrating on its own! It was easily seen. It was probably about 30 meters long - and the house from the 60ies with my mother's and the others appartments is approx 200 meters away from Lidl and the lorry from Hell.
My brother explained he had seen it in the late evenings, in the middle of the night and then again at dawn etc, a couple of hours each time, delivering food or what the heck the bastard is doing.
There's no need for it to have the motor running, I guess.
Or are they burning up left over food during the night there? I have no idea what's going on.
And how to solve this? Put up a note, talk to Lidl, require them to stop this madness - the lorry was vibrating for God's sake!

Low sound is amplified in concrete. Nasty.

On some HGV’s there is a need to keep the engine running when operating a tailift for loading/unloading🤷🏻♂️

Won’t be a wasps nest, that’s more of a scratchy sound. Had one in the wall cavity right next to where my head was in bed. Drove me mad until I discovered what it was

20 low freq noise out of 24 hours now. The truck stands there all night! They use it as a freezer for fruit during the night before the Lidl superstore opens in the morning. The ground vibrates. Me and my brother found out.

As for the vibrations, stop complaining, people pay a fortune for those vibration plate thingies then they have to pay for electricity to run them. You're getting it all for nothing, don't be so ungrateful

Perhaps something along the lines of a Tim Burton / Ingmar Bergman thing. With maybe a bit of Ken Russell and F W Murnau thrown in.
The big question, of course, is who would play Musik?

Couldn't you put him up at Quiet Mansion and discuss the theme musik (see what I did there?) at the same time

It surely has to be Toby Jones?

Well there’s Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas, Matt Le Tissier or Scott Minto🤔 Ace of Base can provide the sound track

It surely has to be Toby Jones? With Musik's dry sense of humour and natural pathos, I was thinking somewhere between Toby Jones & Christopher Lee. Although at a good foot height difference between them, that does leave a lot of options that could fill the gaps.
Theme musik ? Hmmm. Dr Alban for the theme. Incidental musik by Yngwie Malmsteen.

Maybe a steamy affair with Lisbeth Salander could feature? Probably better not going with TJ if that were the case tho, bit too much of a mismatch I think, can't see Nello and the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo being very believable as a partnership.

The noise gave me earpain this night. It vibrates the skull. Earplugs make it even worse. The sound travels through the cranium to the inner ears. It is said 75 dB of low freq sound go this way. Therefore ear plugs doesn't help.
Should have money instead of paying rent.
