I remember being in a hotel room in Tokyo listening to commentary of how a 19 year old keeper kept a clean sheet at the Bernabau knocking Barcelona out of the UEFA cup (yes it was a wee while ago!). That keeper was David Marshal playing for Celtic. He, at the very least, has some pedigree. Nou Camp ?

He’s a very good championship goalkeeper. I’d be in favour of him plus the young lad Bursik as understudy.

My bad if i've missed anything obvious but what happened to Davies? Fallen off the face of the earth ? O'Neil decided not to pick Davies even after Butland's performance against Wigan, that says everything we need to know about his prospects.

Signing an excellent Championship standard keeper who should easily have another year in him (as evidenced by his performances for Wigan) Works all round.

Butland has played a major part in our demise over the last 3 seasons. The sooner he gets a move, the better for everyone concerned. Marshall is perfectly capable at this level.

Cheap back up I guess, if true. Back up to who?

Darlow at Newcastle a good keeper. Was on loan at Forest of course. Those last 10 mins at our place in the Prem for Newcastle was a bit painful as he made 3 fantastic saves, decent keeper and second choice now Benitez has gone. Newcastle actually signed him from Forest along with Lascelles. Loaned him back for a season from memory.

He has generally always played well against us which probably means were he to ever don our colours he'd be shocking. He had an unbelievable game one night match, for cardiff I think. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37357876I recall him having a blinder for Hull that night. Good keeper. Hull it was. In the cup match. He was magnificent that night. I'm mates with a Wigan player who is actually best mates with Marshall. I'll try to find out if there is any truth in this one.

We didn't want him and he ended up at Wigan.

What a depressing thought. A keeper whose best days are behind him. I really hope this is just his agent putting pressure on Celtic to buy him quickly. Who would you like to see us sign? As first choice? Someone who is reaching their peak in the next year or two.
