Anyone made this trip before?
I'm currently struggling to find decent rail sites that can tell me exactly how much it would cost, whether a sleeper train (Trenhotel?) is best for the Barca to Paris leg, and at what times and from where I should get the trains/ busses.
The Renfe site is pretty rubbish, RailEurope never fooking works, and I'm meant to be going in less than a month.
The Spanish bus service is said to be far superior to the trains, and a lot more reliable, but I'm not sure I'm up for a hot, long, smelly bus ride from Madrid to Barcelona.
Any advice people?
I also went on some website called Spanish Rail, but it looked like someone had made it on Powerpoint.

Flying to Madrid from Liverpool, but ideally I'd like to stay on the ground between Madrid and Barca, as you say, it's very scenic. Flying from Barca to Paris wouldn't be the end of the world, but I fancy a good train journey before we fly from Paris back home 8 days later. Cheers for the link.

cheapest high speed train (only takes 3 hours) from Madrid to Barcelona is about 75 euros one way in June - maybe cheaper if it's for further ahead. the bus is about 8 hours and costs about 30 euros one way buses from madrid to Barcelona and barcelona to paris go from the estacio del norte in barcelona and cost about 70 euros for buses check this site... www.barcelonanord.com/default_eng.aspcheck out ryanair for flights to Paris from girona or reus (an hour north and south of Barcelona respectively) I think they both have flights to Beauvais which is about an hour north of Paris.

You think that's difficult? Try doing a hundred shots of Special Brew in a hundred minutes.

You could fly with easyjet from madrid to lyon, then get the tgv to paris. (2 hours). You think that's difficult? Try doing a hundred shots of Special Brew in a hundred minutes. One hundred shots in 100 minutes - piece of piss. Change that to a shot every 30 seconds until the last man standing, It's called a marathon in the beer olympics. I managed to go for 91 minutes. saw my last competitor vomit, then decided to retire as champion.

Billyonion's, thanks very much.
We've now booked a cheap Ryanair flight to Beauvais from Girona, and according to a couple of travel guides theres shuttle bus services to and from the airports.
As for Madrid to Barca, 75 Euros sounds good for the 3 hour train.
Karma to you good Sir!

Glad to be of help mate! - I did Girona-Beauvais with Ryan Air a year or so ago but wasn't going to Paris - it's a tiny airport and I think pretty easy to get a bus to central Paris from. Check out ... www.guiadegirona.es/documentos/horarios-barcelona-aeropuerto-girona.pdffor bus times from Barcelona to Girona airport - it tells you which bus to get for each flight out of Girona. Also look around for discounts on the high speed train (AVE) as there is a lot of variation in prices.
