So the players (let's call them players for the sake of argument) who played on Saturday, when they knew perfectly well what was at stake and played like they did regardless are suddenly going to buck their ideas up three days later? What possible reason should anyone have for believing that? They've downed tools - for whatever reason - but they have, and I don't see why they're suddenly going to pick them up again. What could O'Neill say to them that he didn't already say to them last Saturday morning? They don't care . . . why they don't care is a mystery, but they clearly don't care.

4-2-3-1 Butland Smith Collins Lindsay Tymon Clucas Thompson Ince Gregory McClean Campbell Any reason to not play gregory up top in a 2? He doesn't score goals!

This is football,it doesn`t take much to turn things around and of course they care, they get very well rewarded for playing here and know they will never get that again anywhere else if they get relegated.

Hopefully the ones that don't care. O'Neill has to know who those are.

Davies Edwards-Collins-Macari-Wara Dunwoody Pemberton-McClean Doucoure Kyeremateng-Diouf Subs: Noukeu, Chester, Oakley-Boothe, Verlinden, Sörensen, Campbell, Godfrinne Some drastic actions must be done. Therefore eight new faces, where six of them start. How many of these names have you actually seen in the flesh, Musik? You mean they're crap?

How many of these names have you actually seen in the flesh, Musik? You mean they're crap? They're young and untried; Verlinden is on crutches. Not exactly the team you want to mput out in a relegation dogfight.

Having listened to the press conference I’d hazard a guess he’s going to bank on Ryan and Vokes will start ( which again he should have done Saturday for our own box as much as theirs and said so at 2.45 )
Collins will be an interesting one because he ends physical presence will he change both Center halves ?
However midfield is the issue all of them except clucas are awful another window masterpiece of disaster comes home to roost We go from a midfield engine of Etebo , Badou and Allen to one injury away from Cousins Thomson’ and Sorensen in one window catastrophic process again and again and again ( is we clucas as a a provider and scorer not engine room as is proving to be the case )
Therefore I think whoever he picks given that window id say prepared or not we will be overrun in the middle of the park, leading to inevitable defensive errors possibly a Ryan injury and take a right tanking can’t wait for Barnsley

Does anyone know if the midweek games are still broadcast on the red button on Sky Sports?

I can see MON going to Wigan and set up very negatively with a 4-5-1 formation and try to pinch it late on by changing to a 4-4-2 formation. On that basis we could see the following line up: Butland Smith Batth Chester Ward. Ince Sorensen Cousens Clucas McClean Vokes. With 15 to go takes Cousens off and play Campbell alongside Vokes. I understand your reasoning for this and a Stoke side 6 or 7 years ago would have had a very good chance of soaking up all of the pressure I’m not confident that we have the personnel and confidence to do this right now so Campbell and Vokes as a front 2 for me Other than Clucas and Butland not sure who else will give us the best chance of at least a point We need some other teams to do us a favour against our immediate rivals please

Controversial view alert?
If we create as many chances as we did on Saturday, we'll win the game.

Controversial view alert? If we create as many chances as we did on Saturday, we'll win the game. I agree. 48 hours after the game and reflecting on it we didn't half miss some good chances. If we plug that gap between Chester and Martins Indi we should be a lot tighter defensively, and one our biggest achilles heels is giving away soft set pieces in our final third. Utterly braindead at times, stop doing that and the chances of conceding from a set piece improve dramatically.

There are quite a few selections on which players should start against Wigan. Yet on every selection, there are far too many players who just aint good enough, that's why we are where we are. You ain't going to win too many games when your carrying 3/4 or more players, we will just have to hope there will be 3 clubs who are worse than us over the remaining games.

When's the last time we beat the same side 3 times in one season?
Can remember beating Walsall twice in the same cup competition that was weird.

Quite a match isn't it?
Given Wigan's form and under floodlights it will be desperately tough.
Lose it and things really will start to look bleak.
We need to stand up and be counted and hopefully catch a break or two.
Come on Stoke!
