I don’t blame MON because this isn’t his team. He didn’t assemble it and certainly today the players have let him down badly.
He’s been left a squad totally devoid of quality. But it’s not just that there’s no commitment. All that was lost when Joe Allen got injured.
I don’t even think it’s a selection issue because I don’t think we have a decent side who ever he picks. Perhaps he could have picked Collins but that’s about it.
Biggest mistake we made was keeping hold of players from the PL who just weren’t up for the fight or certainly weren’t going to make a big enough difference to justify there huge wages. Christ knows who’s going to want Butland, Indi, Ryan or the misfits we’ve signed since especially if we drop to L1 next season.
I think the board will have to take an almighty big loss to get us anywhere near competative again. Out of our current squad I’d only keep
Smith Collins McClean Sorrenson Verlinden Campbell Powell Cousins
Difficult times ahead I fear.

I really don’t know where we go from here. I’m not too bothered about the prem but it would be nice to be able to compete in this league but can’t see it for a long time

Whatever the quality or otherwise, that did not look like a team that knew it is fighting for its Championship life.

It’s such a shit show of a squad. To get this bunch of useless tossers where we are now with that lot is a miracle. Though he’s made some strange decisions today ! Boro wanted it more. It showed.

I thought the club had hit rock bottom, but clearly we haven’t. We need to go down and have the root and branch clear out that’s needed...starting at the top.

There's no doubt that our spineless talentless players are to blame... but someone needs to explain McClean to left back to me. He was looking like our best/only chance of getting something.

I still think he’s the man to take us forward even if we go back first. The players should be ashamed today. Gutless.

At this stage I think the only way we can truly rebuild is if we are relegated.
This is the only way we'll be able to get shot of the dead wood IMO.
You have to ask yourself...."what is all the fuss about?"

Unfortunately we’re going have to hit rock bottom before we make any improvements. And it seems another relegation might be that rock bottom.

We seemed to spend most of today trying to unravel appalling selections in the first place. Somehow, we just need to stay up and start again, ridding ourselves of the likes of Butland, BMI, Gregory, Vokes, Ince, Mclean et al in the process. Clucas as well for me. But for a goal or 3, he's the invisible man in midfield. We mustn't forget just how much shit we were in when O'Neil arrived but we are in real danger right now.

Whatever the quality or otherwise, that did not look like a team that knew it is fighting for its Championship life. This was the biggest problem, the total lack of fight. If we had got stuck in, get the first balls and generally put ourselves about we could have done it. Can't help but feel we need a Taggart on the middle, kicking arses.

Chester and Thompson are beyond awful and should be on the bench if not in the stands.
Both signed by O’Neill whose team selections for the first two games have been baffling. However, he has plenty of goodwill in the bank.
Our manager has had a rough few weeks. Let’s hope he comes through this bad patch and we are back to looking like a professionally organised and motivated team.

There are no answers in midfield in my opinion Cousins, Clucas and Powell are our best three and easily good enough for this division. Next season we replace Cousins with an aggressive brute of a player who knows this league and we have a decent midfield. Today Clucas and Powell started goodness knows where. It certainly wasn’t their best midfield slots.

That performance today was very worrying but MON has got a response from players before after awful performances, notably Boro away! I don't think he will change too much for Tuesday but that back 5 is fucking dire. I hope Ryan is available for Tuesday because we don't half miss him and hope he is partnered by either Collins or Lindsey because I never want to see Batth or Chester in a Stoke shirt again. McClean and Ince will obviously start and I hope he starts with Sorensen over Thompson alongside Cousins in the middle. It would be nice to see a 4-4-2: Butland
Smith Ryan/Lindsey Collins BMI
Ince Cousins Sorensen McClean
Campbell Vokes

You have to ask yourself...."what is all the fuss about?" We said that after our last relegation. Relegation is never good for anything. Far better to rebuild in this division than risk getting trapped in League One.

How have we not got the players, since being in a formation that works for them they've shown they're more than capable, but they need to be in the right set up, MON found it and was doing well with it, for some reason he's decided to abandon it and go back to what we all know, including the manger, doesn't work.
