I`m old enough to remember Barrow being in the league , like Workington , Halifax and Southport. Did anyone play the board game Wembley when they were a kid. All these clubs were in it. I have still got my copy on a shelf in the store room and I have just pulled it out. I had forgotten how "cheap" the clubs were in those days. The most expensive to buy was £15,000 and the cheapest £900. The transfer fee for an "International Centre Forward" was £100,000, which was actually pretty realistic for the time. The truly shocking fact about the game was that Port Vale (£1,500) were in and we weren't. Fortunately, the game came with a few blank cards, so I was able to address this outrage. I think I replaced West Brom with Stoke (I know I picked a £9,000 team). I also replaced Port Vale, because no matter how small the chance, I wasn't going to risk them winning the FA Cup! There were 32 teams in the game, as follows: First Division - Chelsea, Leeds, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, West Brom, Notts Forest (their fans wouldn't have liked being called Notts Forest), Man Utd Second Division - Millwall, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Bristol City, Derby County, Norwich, Middlesborough (they couldn't spell either!), Portsmouth 3rd & 4th Divisions - Wrexham, Mansfield, York City, Rochdale, Luton, Darlington, Bradford (they didn't identify which one), Stockport Co, Port Vale, Reading, Bournemouth, Brighton, Orient, Southend, Barnsley & Swansea I really can't wait until lockdown is properly over. I really do need to get out more!!

Congratulations Barrow. Talking of skullduggery, let us never, ever, ever, ever forgot the way Arsenal cooked the books. Bastards! Bastards!OS.

Were Southport still a league club in the 70's ? They were our first round opponents in our league cup winning run so yes.

Congratulations to them, watched a few of their games on BT sport this season, one a night match with about 20 away fans there, along way to go.
Was chatting with a few Parkside Panthers from Barrow (running club) when on holiday abroad early in the year, a good chat and enjoyed their football
