32 years old leave him where he is give verlindon a go young and hungry player in our ranks We will need a huge turnaround in our squad if a wage cap is coming in over the next few years, so cheap and cheerful players like this will be the new norm for Championship clubs, especially ours looking to claw back some enormous costs. Verlinden will still get his chance. I'll trust O'Neill on this one.

32 years old leave him where he is give verlindon a go young and hungry player in our ranks In the slog of a season that the Championship is, I really don't think we can rely on a player who is currently injured and unproven at this level although he looks a good talent. Need cover all over the pitch

Rather have Ngoy as cover than this 32yo journeyman I'd rather niether tbh, a player thats done nothing to show he's good enough and another thats looking for his final contract at 32, not very appealing really.

Johnny Hayes is a perfectly decent player; he works hard, he helps out defensively, he's disciplined, his positioning is good, he's a good communicator and he's popular in the dressing room. If there's truth in our interest, I can only imagine that he would be a short-term fix, given his age. However, if the plan is to get this season behind us, and have a "real go" next season, he could be a very useful, cheap acquisition. There would be nothing nepotistic in M O'N's interest by the way,as Hayes is from the Republic and not the North.

Would be nothing Nepotistic in any signing by MON anyway, Hayes is decent enough and we we need a squad of players for a long season. Like you said a shorter term deal is more ideal and is about getting out of this division which is a hell of a long slog. A bit naive for some to think we can rely on the odd youngster when games come so thick and fast and the physicality of the league.

Aging left winger who can do a cack handed job at left back - got us written all over this one.

Look out for players with Irish links. 1. Recommended by an Irish man who John Coates met in a pub. 2. Once went to Dublin on a Stag weeekend. 3. Has a (Living) Grandmother who was born in Ireland. 4. Has a pet Irish Wolfhound. 5. Knows how to spell Typically Irish words like Ceilidh. 6. Was once in a band with Galway born singer, Enya. 7. Is not proven to be Irish, but is known to very lucky.

Not seen that, thought it was September? That’s if everything goes well mate Always best to have cover We have cover for Verlinden: Tom Ince. Unless we finally realise he is useless for us. Or somebody does us a favour and buys him. We also have N'goy, still not fully utilised for us, but too good to let go.

Can't offer any opinion on Hayes myself, but remember that he's been playing in Scotland for the last decade.
And not only has Michael been living there all that time, but he watches a lot of SPL games because several of his NI squad play there and must have extensive contacts on the inside in the Scottish game.
We may assume that he sees something in Hayes which will add value to Stoke. My guess is that he rates him a low-cost, solid professional with a good attitude, who's worth a squad place in a 46 game season.

Jonny is a neighbours child and I have followed his career for years. He would be well capable of doing a decent job for us on the left,he won't set the world on fire but he will never ever hide.
