Aha, so the West Brazillians learned their total-football off one of ours then did they? Would this be the same Lou Macari that the Vale fans used to wrongly accuse of ugly, brutish football? It was bollocks then too.

I don't know what your problem with Lou is JR? But one thing is for fucking sure. He never had anywhere near the money or the backing from the chairman that Pulis has had and that is fact. And this is in no way meant as criticism of Pulis.

Without going into detail again some folk seem to think that if Lou had a few quid he would have done wonders- doesn't necessarily work like that RAF. He let some great players slip through his fingers for personal gain reasons. Not knocking what he did but who is he to give Pulis advice on the Premiership? Left us with a shambles of a side as well- 8 away defeats on the trot was it? 1 goal scored
I'm sure if Pulis had done similar to him the season we missed out on the play offs v Stockport he would have been crucified in some quarters.
Ever wondered RAF why no club will go near him? Just a thought
Like I said though- can't knock his achievement on taking us to the play offs

07/08 season 6 players in £3,500,000 11 players out £3,770,000 13 loan players in

Soi,
Your argument may have been stronger were it not for the fact that nobody would touch Pulis with a bargepole until we took him.
I think H is right, had Macari had access to the funds Pulis had, we would have gone up under his tenure. Again, this is not a slur against the remarkable work Pulis has done in transforming our club.

Lou isn't giving TP advice, he's written a column suggesting that TP won't care what critics of Stoke City have to say.
And he's absolutely correct.

Fail to see your point Paddy- of course I'd prefer the promotion season and the windfall that comes with it
'Your argument may have been stronger were it not for the fact that nobody would touch Pulis with a bargepole until we took him.'
If memory serves me right he was unable to manage a club until his court case/compensation was settled. Was pretty much straight after that that we snapped him up. He had no problem finding a club after we sacked him
Dave- all Macari has done is stated the obvious. Pulis came in for a lot of criticism even from his own supporters, I remember early April you having a 'bottler' avatar referring to him. Did it worry him, seemingly not. He got on with things and proved the doubters wrong, why should he change his attitude in the Premiership? Did you refer to Macari as a 'bottler' after losing at home to Chester, missing automatic and losing to Stockport in the play offs? Just a thought
'I think H is right, had Macari had access to the funds Pulis had, we would have gone up under his tenure'
Easy to say but we'll never know
Macari had a fair amount of cash at West Ham- ask their supporters what they think of the man so many seem to think is above criticism

All fair and valid points (bar the enforced absense from management, i'm sure for a period of time he was persona non grata within the managerial fraternity but i could well be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.)
I do think however the critique levelled at Pulis and his style of play has made us, possibly unsurprisingly, a little sensitive toward our manager. I think the crux of Macari's point is that Pulis won't give a shit what they say about us as long as we finish 17th. I think he's absolutely right in this assumption and certainly hope it is the case.

I think we all know that it's seemingly water of a duck's back for TP. Imagine challenging for automatic promotion and some' fans' still calling for your head.
I do think if Macari farted in the press some was praise him for it to be fair. If we're talking about managers not being touched with bargepoles etc by clubs then Lou fits the bill perfectly.
Always going to be in the vast minority when Lou comes into the equation but having had some first hand accounts at the time of goings on etc will never change my mind on him.
