Very sad news, saw them many times and will never forget Dave blasting out the intro to Nuclear Device at full volume the first time I saw them at Reading festival in 83. A quiet reserved guy and a hell of a musician. RIP

Huge talent, now gone. I came to the Stranglers late in life and I kick myself for not paying attention to them sooner and it was Dave's keyboard skills that drew be in.

Suspect the tour won’t happen now, can’t see JJ persevering alone. They were playing some big gigs, an arena show in caridiff with Ruts and Mike Peters. What a shame, such sad news. Had the Raven on just, title track is Stanglwrs at their finest, lead from the start by Dave

.... RIP Dave. Remember the first time I ever heard them on John Peel’s show. I’m sure he played a track from Pink Floyd’s Animals album; then he said in his loquacious always understated manner “here’s something new”. Always loved Dave’s swirling Hammond organ. Never actually got to see them live (twenty years ago they played Townsville with Killing Joke & Blondie, but couldn’t go for some reason)

RIP Dave. Had a few drinks (-Hugh) with them once before an acoustic session in Holland once. Very down to earth people and they were mixing with the other fans as if it was just a night out. Oddly I was rooting through my ticket stubs the other day and the attached was a bit of memory. Was back in the day when Mike Lloyds' did coach travel from Hanley bus station. Fantastic evening out, and all for 9 quid. Very sad news and I'm sure this virus will take more of our heroes before we're done. Attachment Deleted

What a venue the Hummingbird was?!...☺ Yes one of the best, had a balcony area where you could (all from memory this) get drinks away from the melee. And then a proper mosh pit. Probably one of my favourite venues along with Rock city and Brixton Astoria(Academy).
