I’ve mentioned this series on other threads, but think it deserves a thread of its own. BBC have played a blinder with this show & nothing has been so good since Our Friends from the North. At least two actors careers will go stratospheric on the back of it. It’s like a modern Bronte/Austen/Lawrence. NO SPOILERS!!! What do you think...

I've only seen the trailer, but it struck me as a pretentious show about two young, good-looking, middle-class lovers who shag each other lots and whisper profound, obscure sweet nothings to each other as pillow talk.
Saying that, I've been watching a pretty good show called Trigonometry which is almost the same thing but with three people instead of two!

A different but easy watch, after the first couple of episodes it was take it or leave it but watched episodes 3 and 4 of 12 and it gets better, i will watch it out on iplayer.
I believe the book is a great read about life for modern day young adult couple written by Sally Rooney (29), my son and his wife recommended it.

It must be good if you favourably compare it to Our Friends Up North. I have the complete series recorded on a memory stick and rewatch it every 18 months or so. One of the best series I have seen.

When I see James Bond films now I think of a ragged Geordie. Snap Nicky loved Mary. But when they were together he somehow couldn’t bring himself to love her. He just seemed to thrive on discontent.

Not to mention Christopher Eccleston, Daniel Craig, Gina McKee & Mark Strong... When I see James Bond films now I think of a ragged Geordie. The wonders of Thatcherism and Blairism . Geordie resurrected from a Cardboard Box beneath the arches to become a iconic super hero, 007. I am not sure who owns the copyrights etc but I would love to see it pulled out of mothballs and screened on terrestrial TV. A great piece of social history despite your political opinions. The House of the Rising Sun will always be Tosca, with Eric Burdon a close second 🙂
