Congratulations on such a decision, following the Belgians and Dutch, all this integrity argument is bollocks. Where is the integrity of putting football before life. Even in the context of football the integrity argument just doesnt wash, cramming games into such a short period only benefits clubs with the stronger squads who can absorb injuries or poor form much easier, where is the credibility of results where lower league teams are openly admitting they would have to play youth players because of financial reasons. Its all ££££££ and nothing else

I think that's the best option. Football money should not be put in front of lifes.

It's not a great look for the Premier League to be seen pulling out all of the stops to get matches onto the television by any means possible.

Not really, i think apart from Liverpool fans the rest of the country would LOVE the PL being cancelled. I've not even missed football since its stopped, mind you im still working so life is usual.

I really couldn’t get interested watching football on TV with no crowds. Not even if it’s Stoke At first I was hopeful that we could get things finished but now with no immediate normality in sight it just smacks of greed by the PL
And no surprise there then

They have announced winners and relegated teams. Did they base it on positions at half way?

Points per game - anyone know where this would put us? Answered my own question I'd take that in a heartbeat, as I'm sure all Stokies would! Bloody Wigan scraping survival again with PPG, bastards

Having all played the same amount of games, PPG leaves the Championship table as is doesn’t it? Or am I missing something really obvious?

It makes sense to just pull the plug now and go again next season.

It makes sense to just pull the plug now and go again next season. I still fail to see what legitimacy a new season would ever have over an 80 percent completed season whenever it starts.

Decent piece on the BBC today which features aguero and Glen Murray which essentially says it’s not practical or safe to play or train until a vaccine with some of the discussed training restrictions .. Can’t see it until August 2021 personally

In the Championship “points per game” and current standings are one and the same as all teams have played the same number of games.
In the Premier League a number of teams have played a game fewer, with two of those, Sheffield Utd and Aston Villa, narrowly off Europa League group stage qualification and safety respectively. In both cases points per game would not be enough to move them further up the table. The only change from the current standings would be Arsenal moving above Spurs into eighth.
If a points per game method was used alongside an additional automatic promotion spot (in lieu of playoffs), League One promotion would be unaffected, but in League Two Cheltenham would move above Exeter into the fourth and final promotion spot. Relegation positions in both leagues would be unchanged.

I thought I had just read that PSG had been handed the title. Hope I am wrong They have and PSG had a good lead and I think they've gone with the the points per game system. Lyon are seeking compensation as missed out on Europe

Points per game is the most fair, or least unfair way of sorting it out.
I know there will be trends at both ends of the season that skew the PPG model but based on our season being 80% complete, it's a solid a model as you'll find.
Just get it cancelled and finish the season.
