Never missed a home game in the 80s and went most aways. Speaking to a Everton fan and he says Everton brought 12000 in 85 and completely took over.
I remember the previous season when we played them in the cup then the league but buggered if i remember 85. Think they brought loads in cup. Their were loads in the old social club by the halfway line one match i remember.

It looks like similar numbers to Man City on the clips. The official gate was just over 18,000.

Wow, I haven’t seen that footage since it was on the BBC news that evening. The news very often showed reports of games that weren’t featured on match of the day, and this was one of them. Also remember Chris Maskery’s punch right in front of me, and also in front of the Sports minister present that day. I would have to agree that is the only time there have been more away supporters at Stoke than home, although Man City came close three years later.

Funny story about that social club mate There was around 5 of us in there pre match and it kicked off mental inside When we arrived in the premiership we were in the Carisbrooke pub ( now closed ) by Goodison and got talking to an Everton ex hoolie who was also in there that day Spoke very well of us and we had a pint with him to reminisce it😊

Would this have been the time that the cheeky Bin Dippers liberated Bourne Sports of some stock?

Away crowds are always ridiculously exaggerated. We payed them the following week and was just a few fans scattered about the Boothen.

Would this have been the time that the cheeky Bin Dippers liberated Bourne Sports of some stock? I think maybe it is, my dads shop Lonnies records had the window put through OB nags pushed the fans onto the pavement and broke the plate glass windows.
