Danny Graham instead of Ricardo Fuller.
Yeah, righto John.

So, John we’d love you to do a combined Stoke and Watford eleven.
Only proviso you’re only allowed one Stoke player in the eleven.
Off you go.

We got all seven subs at least.
I liked Eustace but the few times I've heard him speak or read an interview he never appears to particularly enamoured about his time with us.
Maybe his injury issues just soured his memories at Stoke......

We missed some of the best years of John Eustace, but you can't help feeling he could have done a job for us in the early Prem years too. I'm sure he feels frustrated too. With Danny Graham, well I guess Ricardo never scored 20 goals in a season, so can understand his selection!!!

That decision has me questioning his sanity let alone his judgement!

“When I was at Stoke I was injured for two-and-half to three years. I only really had one full season of playing for the club so it’s quite tough to choose, particularly as I had a good five years at Watford. Andy Griffin and Ricardo Fuller only just missed out on my starting XI though, so they’d be on my bench with Steve Simonsen (GK), Rory Delap, Gerry Taggart, Leon Cort and Darel Russell.”
Probably explains it. Always liked SJE, he was very good for us and, but for injuries, probably would have been exceptional for us.

His seven subs would wipe the floor with his first XI I thought the same...... Actually if you put Eustace in for both Stoke and Watford you get a 10 v 10 Poom Doyley Taylor Mariappa Forsyth Cleverley Eustace Hogg Graham Deeney vs Simonsen Wilko Taggart Cort Griffin Delap Eustace Russell Hooky Ric Could be a good game.

If I remember rightly, at the time, he didn't want to leave, but had no choice!!!

Fuller is always a player the fans are going to love, and you can't argue with Deeney or that season Graham had, especially when Eustace only played a handful of games alongside Fuller. Eustace's justification is fair: "I only really had one full season of playing for the club so it’s quite tough to choose, particularly as I had a good five years at Watford. Andy Griffin and Ricardo Fuller only just missed out on my starting XI though, so they’d be on my bench with Steve Simonsen (GK), Rory Delap, Gerry Taggart, Leon Cort and Darel Russell.”" Until now, I hadn't realised how close Hoekstra and Fuller were time-wise. Imagine them both in the same Championship team! We got all seven subs at least. I liked Eustace but the few times I've heard him speak or read an interview he never appears to particularly enamoured about his time with us. Maybe his injury issues just soured his memories at Stoke...... I think it may have been Pulis forcing him out may have soured his memories of his time with us if anything!!! If I remember rightly, at the time, he didn't want to leave, but had no choice!!! Yet he's been complimentary of the club and Pulis in recent years.

I rated Eustace and was sorry to see him go.
To be fair he's doing it for the Watford website (for whatever reason I don't know) so he's bound to pick more Watford players. If he was doing it for the Stoke site I would expect he'd pick more of ours

Just that Pulis needed to let him go in preference of other players, but Eustace didn't want to go!!!

I am a huge fan of Johnny Eustace .He was a good player with a great attitude .
Like a lot of players of that type , he took the old school ( and a bit naughty ) method employed by Billy Brenner , Roy Keane and countless others off letting his opponent know he's there early doors . Basically going in a touch late and very hard on his opposite number in the first two minutes of the game ... rattling him , leaving him with a bit of limp and not exactly a hundred percent .
Calculated cheating .It's very unlikely the ref is going to send you off ,in the first two minutes of the game
Anyway , just after moving to Watford , he was made captain for their home game v high flying Stoke , pushing for promotion under TP
Eustace went flying in , with his chest puffed out and his captains armband on , with a naughty one on his Stoke opponent in the first two minutes . To show him who's boss .
Unfortunately for Eustace the ref wasn't having it and gave him a straight red
Watford had to play the last 88 minutes with ten men
Perhaps superjohn found it all a bit embarrassing and it clouded his judgement .

I can't believe people are actually bothered about his choices or lack of choices. It means absolutely fuck all Maybe not to you but this is something I have been waiting for, for a very log time. I first got rumour he was planning on doing something ten years ago and since then I have been on tenterhooks. I've not slept a single night in those long years. All because I wanted to know who he was having as his right back in a Watford & Stoke combined 11. This is absolutely massive pal and not a day too soon.
