Can't help thinking Peter Coates should be up there.
So on a director, manager, player, employee basis I'm going to go for.
Coates - Waddo - Sir Stan - Nello

Banks;Franklin;Matthews;Steele I suppose that unbiased footy experts looking at the whole time the club has been in existence would find it difficult to argue with that 4. I only saw Banks and Matthews play. But my dad, who (like his father and all his brothers) supported ManU as he came from Warrington, always said that Franklin and Steele were the two Stoke players he really wanted to see at ManU. So, I'll go for those 4 as well. If there had been 5 heads on Mt Rushmore I'd have found it difficult to split Hudson and Greenhoff for the 5th spot. Despite Hudson's brilliance, I'd go for Greenhoff as my 5th choice. Great servant to the club over many years and a lovely, humble man.

Banks Matthews Coates. Waddington the four who’s contribution is either global or timeless

One life-sized Abdoulaye Faye would dwarf Mount Rushmore.
He could probably carved it out himself - 10 minutes with a butter knife.

Mathews, Waddington, Hudson , Banks... Just picking 4 does focus the mind, I didn't realise that mine would have all come from the Waddington years. I would have liked to have got Pulis, Fuller , Shawcross.... and Denis Smith in

But it's nice to have a more modern one and only Ryan fits the bill really. I do think they have to have been synonymous with the club for a large chunk of their careers though, so players like Hudson and Stein, who were magnificent for relatively short periods of time, don't get in.

Potter, to my shame I actually "forgot" about Ritchie I put it down to replying between doing other things)....in some ways Big John epitomises the club at that time, a quiet, unassuming, effective player, a genuine nice guy, a team player. Conroy? You are correct about Skeels' claim of course , our longest serving player, yet not renowned for anything " outstanding"....the 60s version of Whelan perhaps?...the perfect utility team man?

Sculpted images of 3 of the leading contenders already exist at the ground (maybe for good reason?)...so no danger of there being a "Ronaldo" style botch job Just leaves one space to fill: Plenty of contenders but i will go for Waddo to sit alongside Banks, Matthews and Ritchie

Unfortunately, the person who epitomizes Stoke's achievements throughout history does not play for Stoke, but deserves a spot anyway .... Mr. Bean!
We can consistently stuff up anything.

Waddington, Matthews, Banks and Coates I don’t think anyone can argue with the first three, I think #4 has to go to Ritchie as all-time top scorer.

Waddington, Matthews, Banks and Coates I don’t think anyone can argue with the first three, I think #4 has to go to Ritchie as all-time top scorer. The problem is, that we're then saying that we have done nothing of note (at least related to personalities) since the mid 70's (or before that). I'd say that getting to the prem, FA Cup final, Europe, 3 ninth place finishes in a row, more than 1 current "A" international players is an achievement worth commemorating and the person that best epitomizes those achievements has to be Peter Coates. My vote (based on achievements through the ages) Sir Stan - 1930's, almost Champs, 1960's promotion, our most famous son Tony Waddington - 1960's & 70's, promotion, building our best team, our only trophy, first european adventure Peter Coates - Our fall from grace, the golden share, fightback, the Prem era, FA Cup Final, Europe, assmbling our most expensive team Final place goes to a player representative who rivals sir Stan for most famous ...... Gordon Banks. World cup winner, League cup winner, best years of career spent with Stoke.
