How good would it have been to see a real race between Red Rum and Tiger Roll? I actually went to Aintree (trip with colleagues from work) for Red Rum's first National win. I wasn't cheering though as (like almost everyone else) had put my money on Crisp who looked a certain winner until Rummy passed him in the last few lengths. I don't know what the difference in weights was that day, but it must have been huge.
I cheered Rummy's other wins (and places) from in front of the TV though.

Think Red Rum was getting a stone and a half that day!

If they're making it all virtual CGI nonsense then why does it have to be horses? You could put virtually anyone/anything in the race - Stirling Moss, Steve McQueen, all the selectable characters from Mario Kart, Barrymore...the list is endless. I'm going to email the organisers right now.

They run this every year as a bit of fun in conjunction with the actual race and the methodology is basically Random Number Generation the same as all virtual racing but of course the data fed in is based on actual stats and adjustments for going etc and a bit of AI and the race hasn't been a bad predictor the last three years.
2017 Virtual Winner - Cause of Causes - 2nd in the real race at 16s/1
2018 Virtual Winner - Tiger Roll - 1st in the real race at 10/1
2019 Virtual Winner - Rathvinden - 3rd in real race at 8/1
Kimberlite Candy for at 16/1 for me

Be a bit rubbish now But like the Queen Mother Chase...never bothered with that as horses would have caught up with her real easily

There is no way on this earth that tiger roll will not be in the first four in this. He's 5-1, so its a free bet if you go each way.
Note to the programmer. It would be good if he wins, a bit of cheer for the nation courtesy of the extremely rich bookmaking fraternity.

Can't believe i'm going to have a bet on a cartoon but i'm that fucking bored. Beware the bear 33/1, and hope the lack of virtual blinkers does not have too much affect on his virtual temperament.

Was going put Tiger Roll on but if he's running in the 'race of champions' first two runs it 20 minutes might be too much!

Bit disappointed there wasn't a virtual suffragette to knock one of the jockeys off in the legends race. It was the only thing missing.
