£2m quid transfer fee and didn’t even give him a medical!
Random bit of news, but still ridiculous.

We were desperate to bulk out the squad. He, Soares and Davies seemed like good editions to the squad at the time

Did he do anything good for us? Really can't remember. Yeah. He got injured and couldn't play.

£2m quid transfer fee and didn’t even give him a medical! Random bit of news, but still ridiculous. Common knowledge that one. Players didn't want to sign for us and his arrival was so last minute, we didn't have time to complete a medical before completing his signing.

Shame that didnt happen with Demba Ba. You know how it would've gone with Stoke. We'd sign him, and the first moment he touched the ball his knee would have exploded into a gazillion pieces.

Surely the lack of a medical effects the insurance on a player?

Did he reveal the secret to his never ending contract renewals? Ha yes he does mention it. Good old Tone gave him another year for no reason. He certainly hadn’t expected it! 🙄

I’ve never understood the dislike of him amongst Stoke fans, other than him joining Vale a few years later. He was a top end Championship player for Sheffield Utd and provided us some much needed craft in midfield when he arrived. It wasn’t his fault that Pulis chose a physical approach which meant that he was often overlooked for superior bruisers who were technically inferior and when he did get on the pitch, it was largely out of position on the wing. Whilst the physical approach clearly worked at home, had he been used more frequently in centre mid away from home we might have had more success in retaining possession and moving up the pitch. Much like Tuncay, the timing of his move here was unfortunate. Both were good players and played well when given the opportunity, but weren’t the players which the manager wanted at the time, despite signing them himself.

I didn't think Tongy was too bad. With you on this one. I thought he was a decent signing. A very good Championship player with most of the attributes to be a half decent Premiership player. Pulis didn't fancy him, for reasons only he knows. Don't care about the Vale thing. He owed us nothing.

I didn't realise he played for Port Vale and pretty irrelevant as far as am concerned.
Don't remember much about him playing for us apart from v FC Thun I think and a few Prem games. He was excellent for Sheff Utd.

Greenhoff played for Port Vale. Stan managed them. Does anyone hold it against them?

Greenhoff played for Port Vale. Stan managed them. Does anyone hold it against them? Hating the Vale doesn’t make anyone feel better about SCFC or life in general and what’s more doesn’t even wind the Vale fans up as much as not thinking or knowing anything about them at all. BM

He’s not particularly hated is he?
Just associated with some questionable contract extensions that show why you need more than one bloke doing things.
