Let's be honest, it's what any self respecting business owner should do if they can afford it.

Or from Jan to Dec? If it’s the latter no one would’ve taken any holidays come August so they’d be left with no workforce when everything was back to ‘normal’ as you would all be using holidays

Most companies will also let you carry over a small number of days into the next year but expect you to take them within 3 months.

If there’s no work taking a three week holiday paid isn’t a bad thing, don’t forget these are extenuating circumstances and unprecedented non wartime measures in place.

If the price of keeping your job is that you have to give up 3 weeks of your holiday in 2020 (presumably with pay - but it doesn't really matter for the point I am making) to sit at home I would think that is a price worth paying. My understanding is that Bet365 have also put some people on week on - week off with full basic pay. In the grand scheme of things I don't think Bet365 have acted too harshly. They could have offered more but they could also have offered a damn sight less.

They could have offered more but they could also have offered a damn sight less. Most large companies employing large numbers of people will also have certain stipulations regarding the holiday booking process too, such as requiring employees to book a percentage of their holiday entitlement before certain times of the year.My partner, for instance, has to have used 2 to 3 weeks of her allowance before the end of August under normal circumstances anyway,a further two weeks before December and then the remaining allowance between January and the end of March. Given that Bet 365 will have thousands of employees all vying for similar Holiday dates most years, this doesn't sound as draconian or as such a radical departure from what i'd imagine their customary holiday booking process to be,as some are trying to make out.More a judicious way of looking after their people whilst protecting the interests of the business. Then again i've never worked at Bet365 so happy to be corrected. 😉

well my boss had his office manager ring me at half 9 last night to make me redundant....
admittedly the situation is complex, my notice was in and i was due to finish working for them a week Friday, they didnt want to spend the money to set me up working from home and the relationship between me and the managing director has reached a real low since my notice went in, my new boss is ready to have me start so its all good
just waiting to see what they pay me etc, at the very least i expect the weeks statutory notice although its suggested they should pay me to the end of my notice, anybody got any ideas

I'm employed at bet365.
They phoned over the weekend to advise shifts had changed to a 7 on/7 off pattern with extended shifts with my week on starting on Wednesday. They phoned again this morning to say hours have been further reduced, likely due to low business levels.
They've now phoned to say don't attend work the rest of the week, although be available to come in at any point you were due to be rota'd in should the situation update. As far as I can see they're still open for the time being. Whether or not they'll fully close I'm not sure but it's all surreal at the moment.

Imagine we are in lock down until then, everyone back to work on 1 September and half the Bet365 workforce goes off on their hols. I agree its a bit annoying, but I think they are being very fair
