What's the best advice ( or worst) that you have had in life? Advice you took or , looking back, perhaps should have taken ?
This must come close ( for some of us).
( straight to the comments)

I suppose the best advice I can remember is to never go to bed with your partner with an unresolved argument hanging in the air.
The most recent one aired seems to be reasonable advice though.... In a world when you can be anything, be kind.

Jimmy, I was just doing a Tesco shop for veg and it " popped up"😎....I don't know what that says about my search history. Anyway , I chose the King Edwards, large for " baking"

I've had a drawing for over 20 years now, showing a Frog being eaten head first by a Heron, but the frog has its front "paws" gripping the Heron's neck/throat so it can't swallow. Underneath is a caption that says:
NEVER, EVER, GIVE UP.
Worked for me.

The amount of friends I've lost due to herons doesn't bear thinking about.

I guess I'll just have to stick to the frozen carrots in future

I can remember the " talk" with my dad when he specifically warned me about potatoes in the anus. I was actually thinking about more profound advice when I started the thread.....'better to regret the things that you have done, rather than the things you wish you had done"....generally good advice, but the judge didn't seem to get it when I was sentenced to five years

I believe from what I hear that the area of Herons Cross, near the BET365 Stadium, is particularly hazardous, especially on a matchday.

“If you carry on lifting heavy boxes up like that, you’ll have a really bad back when you’re older”. They were right I kind of learnt this one thr hard way, but at the right time. Worked in pub in early 20s, could lift anything til a beer barrel coupled with a spillage on floor wiped me out as I carried it and slipped. Ended up seeing osteopath for nigh on 2 years and have never struggled with back since, or with lifting. Touch bloody wood !

I’ve always liked the ‘if! Poem by Rudyard Kipling. As good as advice as you will ever likely see.
If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

We'd just had our first child and everyone from parents, in-laws, friends, neighbours, even local shopkeepers were lending us their vast experience on how to care for our baby. To be honest it was getting a bit much and after venting to a friend over a few beers, he gave me this classic piece of advice.
"If you want my advice, it would be never to take too much notice of advice"
