Well he certainly doesn't let life get boring... Mick got us back together really well this week and today. One more time. That wasn't Baadiff's best day but they've got the quality to be a constant threat. We dictated the tempo for long sections of the game, defensively lot better, I was happy with the starting X1 (allowing for permanent issues about Ince, I'm still right more often than Mick about that), might have made the subs sooner but overall, a fine solid job of work (and, 10 fouls to their 7).
8* from me

My concern with the way the starting 11 lined up was that Powell was on the left which takes him away from his best position as second striker/number 10. But Powell did well in an unfamiliar position and Thompson also did well played as a holding midfielder. So credit to MON for the team he put out.
I'd have tinkered with the back four but, again credit to MON, I thought they looked much more like a unit than they did last week. I'm shocked at Indi's lack of pace these days so I hope MON can work miracles and get a tune at left back out of Josh Tymon but I won't hold my breath.
I thought Butland had his best game for a while - perhaps that was why the back 4 looks like a unit again?
Has to be an 8 from me - can't think of much MON did wrong today.

9*
Cardiff were poor today but the fact is they'd lose twice in 17 games in the league going into this shows how superb this result is. It was a brave call to name the same eleven after the QPR implosion but it was vindicated, he got the reaction he was after.
I thought we did the basics right today and we managed the game well throughout, we weren't at our best but we never looked in danger of not coming away with three points. The ball retention was poor again at times but we defended our boxes well and we could've quite easily scored four with Tyrese's chances.
Thompson looked better centrally and some of his dead ball deliveries were very good, O'Neill will continue to bed him in gradually but I think he could be a real asset for us long term.
It's a massive result and hopefully we can build on it with at least four points from next week now. Three more wins ( 46 points ) and we should hopefully be fine and it's job done for O'Neill with a big Summer ahead.

7* Pretty awful game, but had them sussed no threat until the last 20 minutes when we went all defensive, unnecessarily so really

9 * Butland looked commanding, Ince putting in tackles his Dad would have been proud of, Allen on fire and we did it without Shawcross, McLean, Thebo etc so things looking good I’d say??

Bounced back after two poor games. He also did so with the same team which had lost the two previous games. Well done!

9* kept a settled side, despite the QPR collapse, and it worked.
Butland obviously had been instructed to negate their long throw. Powell did an excellent job in an unusual position...shows what a great pro he is
Not convinced with Thompson as DM, but otherwise, spot on

He's always been slow but I also a bit shocked by it. He seems to get slower by the week. Not getting a LB in was a poor decision.

Got to say the following:
First half hour 5* - it was pretty turgid. The rest 9* and was pretty enjoyable and I did feel like they were never going to score.
If only this were the norm eh?

8*
Work man like performance after two games where we were in control and eventually succumbed to defeat.
The first goal almost felt apologetic, as those around me in the boothen end hardly got enthused about scoring. However we seemed to perk up in the second half and should have won more convincingly.
Have to give MON some kudos for sticking with the same 11 that capitulated against QPR. They delivered on the day but to be honest they weren't exactly tested by a poor Cardiff side.
Good performances by Thompson and Ince (shock) but we still looked a bit flimsy at the back.
Some harder tests to come but hopefully this will help that fragile confidence.

A 9 from me. He didn't panic and got the players to grind out a filthy 3 points after a period of shitness. That's what good managers can do.
Well done Michael.
