Hi
I have been having a spot of bother (as Frank Spencer once said) with my Computer. I have sought advice from those you would expect to be in the know, but to no avail.
I continue to get unwanted Pop ups and sites opening up on my system, when in the middle of other tasks, this after setting the Privacy levels to the correct setting, the default setting according to Windows. I think this has some control over cookies?
When after setting this privacy level, I switch the computer off, upon re start if somehow, is set back to allow absolutely every pile of c**p going. Does any body out there know why this might be occuring. I also have the full version of Virgin Media PC Guard in full working order, but this no longer seems to help.
I also get often on sart up the following message:-
Winlogon.exe.Application Error The exception Privileged Instruction(0xc0000096) occured in the application at location 0x1000f8d4.
It then says , click OK to terminate program, or Click on cancel to bebug program.
Which ever one I go for, the system crashes with a messgae Stop C000021a (fatal system error)
Can anybody give an explanation of why my Computer is doing what it does, and how I might be able to clear the problem.
Cheers

That’s what you get for surfing dodgy porn sites (Vestan Pance had the same problem).
Have you tried ctrl + alt + delete?

I would suggest that you have triple glazing fitted throughout the house, get your loft re-insulated and get your damp course checked. After that hire an independent surveyor to check the work.
If you continue to get the same error after all that then let me know.

Hello Mate, Your machine is infected with spyware. When you boot up, a cookie lodged in the main system is disabling all the protection that you have in place and letting all the viral advertising onto your machine. You need to do two things. Firstly, get yourself a decent firewall package. Either buy one like norton, or download a free one. I downloaded zonealarm for free and it does the job just lovely. It couldn't be easier to set up either. Secondly, get a form of spyware defence. Again, this can be paid for (boo) or you can get a freebie (hooray). Either use the windows spy remover or alternatively go to www.spybot.com and download their spybot search and destroy, which is also free. These two pieces of software, will keep that shit off your machine, just make sure you do your housekeeping and update them regularly. Glad to help, and if you don't give me karma for this i'm going to come round your house and kick you in the bollocks.

I would also suggest getting firefox installed. It's is said to be a bit more secure than internet explorer. Secondly get something called crap cleaner. Do a system back up (which I thinkl CCleaner does for you) then run through the various scans. Use spybot search and destroy too.
