It would indeed be great if he get can out and about, involved in the celebrations just so people can ask him about what really mattered at the '70 World Cup and THAT save.....😉 Must be extremely difficult and soul sapping for a sporting colossus to deal with the waning of his/her physical powers, particularly someone who seemingly defied the 'laws' of what was possible on the pitch now feeling imprisoned by his ailments.

The last time I saw them together , Mike Bassett was partying on and Pele was being a bit dour
Pele was probably the better player , but he should learn to relax , Mike Bassett style

That 1970 world cup team was the best ever, it was also my first real meaningful world cup and as an impresionable 11 year old thought all world cups would be like this one. Dreams hey

It's strange that article has 'depressed' in inverted commas, like it's not really a thing.

It's strange that article has 'depressed' in inverted commas, like it's not really a thing.
It's basically indicating that the word being used in the headline is speculation from someone else (i.e. his son)
They can't print that it IS definitely depression without the person involved telling them himself, or medical diagnosis saying it. All they have here is other people telling them it's what it is, so they use inverted commas to illustrate that that word in the headline isn't their (i.e. the newspaper's) words., but someone else's.
They do exactly the same thing in the first 2 lines of the article. If they don't, then they are representing it as a fact and could be sued if it's untrue.
Literally, nothing more than that.
More importantly though, whatever it is, i hope the great man has the support around him that he needs and that each day gets better for him.

Many people bought their first colour TV in time for the 1970 World Cup, my uncle being one of them.
We got to see that classic Brazil kit in vibrant colour, worn by probably the best side I've ever seen. I was in awe of them, Tostao, Gerson, Rivellino, Jairzinho, Carlos Alberto and the best of the lot, Pele.
Leaving aside my Stoke bias, that Brazil 1970 side is without equal. If I had to pick my all time favourite, non Stoke player, it would be the man himself, Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
Get well soon Pele.

The reason I pointed it out is more well known publishers (such as The Guardian) didn't put the word in inverted commas.

I hope he recovers and lives to a ripe very old age.
I remember standing on the Boothen End seeing him play for Santos at the Vic.
