WTF has happened to him? A promising career ahead of him and he's gone downhill faster that Eddie The Eagle Edwards. He was to be the new golden boy of Stoke, local academy produced and showing such promise that there were a few big clubs sniffing around. Has the fame gone to his head? Does need to concentrate more on his floundering career and reputation that the night life of Stoke on Trent? Gouranga.

Nothings particularly happened to him, he’s lost his place and it’s up to him to impress in training and during any game time he gets.
More performances like the one against Reading the other night will keep him in the managers thoughts.
I’ve criticised him this season as in my opinion he’s not looked fit, and he’s played within himself.
His aim should be between now and August to get himself in the best shape of his life and to make it impossible for O’Neill to leave him out. Needs to show more both defensively and going forward........

2 things Tom Edwards needs to do is 1. get his head down and focus on his career. 2. get himself a new barber and sort that donkey hair style he's got on his head.

From what I have seen of young Tom he is a good athlete with a degree of skill.
Latterly he has struggled at both ends of the pitch, being found out at the back with both his positional sense and aerial ability, and going forward his crossing has been poor...not good for a RB
However, I see this as only a blip, brought about mainly by a crisis in confidence, and something he will come back from. Playing under NJ, in a struggling side, was always going to be difficult, so I hope that MON will be able to guide him back to his best

I think he's a bit heavy. I don't mean fat, just think he should keep of the weights.

Surely going downhill faster than Eddie the eagle Edwards isn't going that fast as a comparison

Struggled phycologically after 20k moaned about his throw ins when he had no help whatsoever on the pitch so cruelly go subbed at half time. His replacement did no better but didn't get moaned at. He's been playing well at CW and was exceptional against reading on Monday evening, even scoring a cracker. Support your local lads and stop putting the boot in them.

WTF happened? I can only guess, but;
1. He signed a 4.5 year contract £££ which demotivated him? 2. He is a defender in a league above his ability? 3. His positional awareness is criminally bad? 4. His Focus and concentration is well below par?
On the plus side, he is quick and can cross a ball occasionally.

Agree with Wherty on this one. Whenever he took a throw in there was absolutely no movement at all down the line and he was the one being slated for it.

I get the sense MON likes to pack the bench with attacking options as much as he can get away with. Which means that as Smith is currently his preferred right back, there’s no place for Edwards in the eighteen. It’s very easy for the rumour mill to take that and run to “he’s out on the piss every night” or “MON dislikes him” when neither are likely to be true.

If people want to look at what's happened with him then I think the clue is something over the summer, whatever that is. He was flying under Jones last season and scored that belter against Norwich. He looked a different player after pre season for some strange reason and hasn't really recovered.

Never got the fuss TBH.
Always thought league one at best.
Can't defend and attacking threat is ok at best.
Smith is miles better and that says everything for me because he's bang average.

The word for him since he burst on the scene is potential
Had incredible energy, desire and seemed to be going in the right direction, the jury was still out for me though - in terms of him being able to cut it at this level - I never thought he was a viable prem player, but burst on the scene in the prem when Hughes realised that his centre-forward was not the man for right-back and Edwards became the only viable option.
He has been, let's be honest, awful this season. Whether that has been down to attitude or loss of confidence is anybodies guess - maybe a bit of both
He simply is not a viable option at the moment which leaves only Smith. That said we are in a better position with our right-side of defence than our left, which says a lot about our club and why we find ourselves in the position we are in now

I must admit I wasn't impressed by Edwards when he got his first games for us as I thought he looked way too slow for a fullback. Then he really picked up his game at the end of last season and had a very good game against Norwich. I thought I had been wrong and that he could be the player a lot of people on this board claimed he would be, but when he has been given chances this season he has really looked off the pace of the game. I must admit I still have my doubts abou him, but I certainly hope he can come back stronger and solve our right back problem. With Smith, Edwards and Bauer we really should have had more than enough options for the right back spot really!
