Oh well, he's not perfect after all. We slipped back badly tonight, no point trying to dress it up. They bustled us, we lost our shape and as 11 individuals we were way less than the sum of our parts. Mick didn't second guess Derby right from the outset and he didn't reboot us effectively at HT either. And we really could have done without our GD dropping again.
4 from me

Can't really criticise him for the starting line up. It's a similar team to the one that has done well recently. It could be argued that we were overrun in midfield and that he should have gone 4-3-3, but we know that doesn't work with this squad. Where he should lose points tonight is his failure to react to what was going on. Ince and Powell needed taking off much sooner to inject some zip into the side. Gregory and Diouf would have provided that. End product of both obviously a bit suspect. Maybe he was in shock after our recent performances. He'll get used to it. 6.

Poor night at the office. Vokes away from home with no pace around him is always going to be a car crash. You don't need a coaching badge to know that. Too loyal to certain players and complicit in a transfer window of pure arrogance.

Starting Vokes -1 Starting Ince -1 Keeping Ince on for 90mins -2 Keeping Powell on any longer than 20mins, fucked us over for the 3 giving away possession weak as piss...utter utter gash and soooooo casual it was embarrassing tbh -3
So 3 from me.

4. Bad day at the office all round. After a reasonable start Derby took control and we fell apart in the middle of the first half. It was clear that we needed half time changes, or at least early in the second half because Vokes, Powell and Ince in particular were having stinkers going forwards but he was far too slow and made the changes far too late after the game was long lost.
Bad day at the office for players and manager. Move on.

5*
The team was woeful. Too many passengers. And a total lack of energy.
Didnt seem to have a plan b tonight.
Id have taken ince Powell and vokes off and played with 8 men as they were shocking.
Cant blame the manager for poor performances but can blame him for not hauling off the main culprits earlier.

Got it wrong tonight, even I could see after 10 minutes that Rooney was bossing the game and even before the game I'd have hazard a guess that Rooney would dictate the play. Stop Rooney tonight and you stopped Derby, amazed that our manager didn't see that. Worst day as Stoke manager tonight.

How fans expect our players from stopping a brilliant player like Rooney, despite him being past his superb best, from strutting his stuff, makes me laugh. I wish we'd got the old bugger in our midfield. One of those days when everything goes wrong and MON can do nothing about that. Apart from losing Bruno, he stuck with the same players that have done well for us lately. Shit happens.
So it's a 5 from me.
OS.

We opted for hoofball and trying to squeeze the ball down the sides without any invention. None of the long diagonals came off as they simply collected the loose ball and had opportunity after opportunity to carve their way through us.
As soon as we had someone from midfield retrieving the ball we suddenly had options and had a series of forays into their half but struggled to build any momentum.

We think we're safe and can get by on the awful Vokes if Campbell gets crocked again. Staggering arrogance and no lessons learned at all at levels of the club.

Better players than our players will ever be have tried it and failed. OS. You're talking about the Rooney of 3 or 4 seasons ago. Someone like Cousins could close him down all over the pitch. We let him receive the ball unchallenged and dictate play from deep and midfield. It was piss poor that MON didn't see that.

Thanks and understood fair point on Gregory which does seem odd , FFP is presumably the issue as it’s the only test Scholes cannot afford to fail , ( so burning gregory neither here nor there , interestingly sky saying a firm offer not Ioan would have got him ) he has failed everything else with complete impunity and indeed increased rewards but a deduction might be a step too far give there is nowhere to deflect it .

Losing a local Derby 4-0 is unforgivable. Certain players need to take a long hard look at themselves. Lindsay simply not good enough, Vokes useless and a no show from Powell and Ince!
