My all time favourite film. Carpenters version was superb. Slated back in the day, but a cult classic now. The suspense, plot and acting made the film and the effects were excellent, especially the dogs head splitting open to reveal the thing and Norris's head coming off with the spider legs.
The 2011 version was the prequel, which revolved around the finding of the thing by the norwegians.
Funnily the original 50s film 'the thing from another world' was on TV the other week, which is a good watch.
I imagine a remake will be a cgi strewn affair. Wont be the same without Kurt Russell though.

The Thing 84
Did we ever find out who that was and why they stopped marking North Staffordshire with it?
