Media reporting a statement issued from West Ham today that it is "imperative" that they avoid relegation this season. Talk about stating the obvious. Huge outlay on transfers and probably high wages etc mean they are in desperate trouble. Losses reported of 27 million up to end of last season. Therefore massive financial problems despite the effective gift of a new stadium. We all love West Ham so much that many a tear will be shed in these parts if they go down. And there will be an accordingly large number of Crocodile sightings! I shall watch their potential struggles with interest as one of the highlights of the season. Currently outside the relegation three on goal difference.

West Ham going down would amuse me greatly.
That said, from a Stoke point of view who would we want to be up against next season hopefully competing for promotion? Probably not West Ham, I'd much prefer a Bournemouth or a Brighton......

And yet still spending. Tomas Soucek from Sparta Prague reportedly having a medical at West Ham.
Keep it up lads. FFP is just a myth so don't worry about it. You'll probably bend the rules to get round it anyway.

I’d like to see West Ham go down just because I dislike their owners / the deal over the stadium and also I like watching the world burn.
I feel sorry for their fans though. Say what you want about the running of West Ham but they’re a proper club with a core of working class supporters, and their stadium move has gutted the soul out of that club. (I guess some still argue it did the same to us)
The whole idea of leaving Upton Park was to give the team the opportunity to actually compete with the big boys. West Ham have sold their soul and their prize is regression. Don’t be surprised to see rioting there if they do go down.

Thought when they said they were ambitious they'd be challenging Liverpool by now for the title??? 🤔

There was a hilarious puff piece in the Evening Standard a week or two ago with Sullivan talking out of his arse about how the club under him and the other ones is pushing ever forward. Although the article finished with the statistics; managers sacked and employed, wins, losses and draws, relegations and promotions and what not, and it's hard not to sympathise with their fans, even though there's nothing in the Premier League this year I want to happen more than those fuckers get relegated so that athletics stadium masquerading as a football ground is half empty every fortnight.

As much as they piss me off, they're one of the few clubs I'd consider to be a "proper club" (I'm a right picky bastard).

I hope they crash and burn, with the ashes distributed to all the other London clubs.
For when we need something to piss on.

West Ham have pretty much always been bottom half side/second division side
I think they have one top four finish, ever.
Yet if you only pay attention to the media you would be forgiven for thinking they are a big club
Big fan base, yes, fair play to them but not any more important as a club than another 20/30 club.

As Jim Royle would say, "Big club my arse!"
And as for the fanbase, they're not that big. Selling out 35k in the Prem at Upton Park was one thing, but other London clubs like Chelsea, THFC, Arsenal don't need to sell cheap tickets to tourists and daytrippers, or hand out freebies to kids, to pack out a big stadium. Season tickets for their hard core are a lot cheaper than those other clubs, too.
If they do get relegated (please, please, please, please), then they won't be able even to give away 60k tickets free for the likes of Preston or Boro (no offence).
Still, that mightn't be a problem after Millwall visited and demolished the place!

I’ve always had a weird soft spot for West Ham and want them stay up and do well. I don’t know why, I’ve got no connections with them at all no family supporters I just like them. Maybe I was an ‘ammer in my past life..

I hope you're keeping up with your good deeds and charitable work, or you risk coming back next time as a Vale fan.

There is a programme about West Ham on a new Digital Radio station tonight at 7.00pm. It's called Lovesport. I may give it 45 minutes.

None of the other London PL clubs have to stoop to that to shift tickets.
