I think he’s just getting noticed because the team is doing well now.
People just blamed him because he was Joe Allen and we were shit.
Now we’re winning a few games he’s doing the same job, the manager has built the midfield around him as the previous managers should have done and we’re getting results now he’s suddenly playing better.
He is a great player we are lucky to have, and even when we were shit he wasn’t as bad as a lot of people on here made out.

He provides great energy for the press , a decent pass see saturday’s first goal and is decent at winning the ball back , all of which he does week in week out rarely missing a game he’s be huge miss for us

Joe Allen is great, so long as we set up to cover the space he leaves.

Joe Allen is great, so long as we set up to cover the space he leaves. Applies to all players of a similar ability or better

He's a lot more disciplined and restrained than he previously was, almost certainly because of the new manager's influence. Even he himself has said he was playing poorly before now.

His first touch and passing are consistently below where you’d expect a player with his Premier League and international credentials to be.
He’s always had bags of energy and since MON came in the combative elements of his game have been superb.
There seems to be a perception among football fans and pundits in general that he is a cultured, ball-playing midfielder. I suspect a lot of those people haven’t watched much of him recently, especially not the first half on Saturday when he literally passed to nobody four times.
He’s a tenacious scrapper and when used in a system that allows this to flourish he’s a real asset to us.
If the right offer came in with our FFP predicament I think we’d be mad not to sell him, but I’d much rather that was in the summer than this week.

We'll know the definite answer in a few days, but though I haven't quite forgiven our so-called captain for his ear-cupping antics, he seems to have improved the last few games with more concentration and less aimless running. I reckon his manager spoke an earnest word into said ear.

I suspect, but don’t know for certain, that MON has told them to cut that shit out and concentrate on getting us out of the mess that we are in. He’s also simplified things with players doing things that they are most comfortable with, no square pegs in round holes or strange formations. He’s also said that he’s reduced the squad size for training and moved anybody that wasn’t ‘good for the group’ out of it. All very basic things but have already had a huge impact - gives me great hope that we can succeed longer term once he’s got HIS players and any legacy players who don’t fit his ethos have gone completely.

At his best, he sets the tone for the rest of the team to follow and is the heartbeat of our midfield. Ask any of the players in the team if he'd be missed and I'd imagine it'd be a resounding yes from every single one of them.

His passing on Saturday was generally pretty appalling. I think MON mentioned that in his interview on radio Stoke. Was his first pass that found a Stoke player when he kicked off for the second half?

31/41 success rate, including 2 key passes...... The passes he makes it should be near 90%. Safe short sideways stuff. It was poor.

He passed 3 into touch (one of which Martins Indi was asleep for), they were the noticeable ones. Other than that he was ok. He also turned the ball over 5 times and made 3 tackles, and had 3 shots (1 on target). So all in all a good day at the office in a solid 2-0 home win against a team in play off contention...

Well done Joe Allen......

I agree that there's been substantial improvement under O'Neill, but the ear cupping happened under his watch. He must have been as horrified as we to see it, because soon after he spoke about the need for supporters and players to re-integrate.

Allen’s performances were no where near as bad as people made out on here and the fact he became the scapegoat for the team as a whole was ridiculous. I’ve even seen people blaming him for our decline and relegation. He’s one of , it not our best player, and we’re lucky to have him.

As said on Quest, he is a better player when he sticks to what he is good at, and cuts out the 'headless chicken' routine.
I think he has benefitted from MON, but also from having Powell in the side. Powell is a very clever player, too clever for some of his teammates, but Allen works well with him...as shown by our first goal.
Long may that continue

There's no prejudice clouding bayern's view here folks, honest...... He has been. He was poor in both the first halves vs WBA and Swansea then good in the second. Pretty inconsistent that. He’s been poor in about half the games under MON but that’s in line with the rest of the team too. We’re an inconsistent side at the moment.

Joe Allen is undoubtably one of if not the best players we have, hence continued speculation about his sale to a Premier League Club The Allen haters on this forum have obviously absolutely no understanding whatsoever of football and what makes a decent footballer, end of !
