Honestly I can't see how it won't happen. Maybe not at the level of the 70s and 80s but enough to make us a laughing stock for being the last club on earth with serious psycho fans.

Its bound to could you seriously imagine a typical stoke fan who's had a few jars before the match holding his nerve as an away fan celebrates in our end on the sly?

I can imagine that any grown up could resist resorting to violence, if they really wanted to, yes.
If i can do it, why can't they?
People who can't resist violence should be put down, similar to a dangerous dog.

You ramble some shit you do tate and lyle.I myself could proably just about bite my lip but not everyone has the same ammount of patients that others do.And what an insult to us it is anyway for them to celebrate in our end right under our nose's?

So you think resorting to violence, because somebody inadvertently baits you is acceptable?
What happens when two teams are playing on Sky and both sets of fans are watching in the same pub, should neither celebrate a goal for fear of being attacked?
This is the 21st Century, not the Stone Ages.

It is the 21st century your right but violence has and allways will be apart of football. Its the point that people will find it rude and offencive to cheer in an oppositions end.And some people will show how much they dislike it with fists.

Why must violence ALWAYS be a part of Football?
I for one, hope that one day it can be completely removed from the stands and cities of all football teams.
People don't fight over which is the best:
Car TV Programme Dipping Sauce
or anything else for that matter - so why over football, it's completely irrational.
Unfortunately we can't all support the same team. Even if we did - the scumbag thugs of this world would only find reason to fight their own.
It's got nothing to do with the people they attack being fans of the opposition, it's just an excuse to fight, because it's what their neandolithic brains find 'fun'.
They should be shot quite frankly.

Post by **** Pulling Himself Off on Jun 9, 2008 13:04:27 GMT
You'll never stop it with an attitude like that, no.
Until these people realise that their behaviour will not be tolerated, they will continue to tarnish the sport we all claim to love so much.
P.S There is no such thing as 'football violence'. Violence is just as dispicable, whatever setting it's in.

I don't think anyone will disagree with you that it won't go away all together , but it's a shame none the less that in this day and age people are still knocking shit out of each other at matches. It never happens at Rugby matches so it must be the mindset of the football fan. Then again, I'm a football fan and so are my mates and we have never hit anyone over football, but I also know people who have.

Stoke themselves can set the tone on this one.
They need to let fans know the consequences of any misbehaviour within the ground, bottle throwing, pitch encroachment, fighting, etc and enforce bans accordingly.
With the amount of CCTV, TV coverage at the ground next season anyone who does break the club rules must know that they will be heading for a ban from the ground and their season ticket ripped up.

Tate and Lyle
[glow=red,2,300]'They should be shot quite frankly'[/glow]
Your pacifist stance is not helped by that statement ???
Not only will there be trouble in the stands but there will be trouble in the town centre bars too if our game with ManU is televised at the wrong time
Of course violence is not right but then neither is provocative celebrating in the wrong area
We have been away from the big time for a long time and it will take us a while to adjust. Meanwhile SCFC should try to use their computer systems (ticket sales last season to start with) to sell the home tickets to home fans

I think there will be hardly any trouble @ all as the make-up of away support (i.e.vast majority are s/t holders &/or members) in the prem is different to that of the lower divisions.
also the traditional clubs we have scrapes/pathetic football violence with arnt really there with the exception, imho,of Man City.
yes there used to be trouble with Utd but thats decades ago now.
WBA - rarely trouble (unlike Wolves or B'ham) Sunderland - cant see it Newcastle - a maybe but, again, the away followings in the prem will be different to those who came in the cup matches last year & in the 90's Wigan - no Chelsea - not these days Spurs - no Arsenal - no Everton & Liverpool - not violence but you would expect petty crime to shoot up just for the day Bolton - no Blackburn - no Pompey - maybe but unlikely Fulham - no Hull - possible Villa - maybe West Ham - maybe Boro - no
away from home I think it could be more likely however if Stoke get the away ticketing sorted (a big if....) that could limit the numbers of violent types imho.

My season ticket is back of the south stand block 36 right on the end next to the away fans for the banter. Got a feeling it will kick off (mainly outside) in nearly every home game next season without a doubt.
What Stoke should do is fuck that shit netting and have like man Utd have, a railing/fencing seperating the fans and a line of stewards/police there as well. If Stoke are just relying on a line of stewards and four empty seats stopiing it from kicking off, forget it!

Hmmmmm wouldn't be so sure on that one! As I've just put in the 'which non big 4 game' I have friend who is a Bolton fan and he ain't forgotten our rivalry from years back. I am sure there is numerous other nutters who ain't as well (he's now an ex-nutter . . one with quite a CV in that regards as well!). Whatever happens judging from the youtube videos of the 'trouble' that happens these days at Stoke it'll mainly consist of throwing plastic bottles or drinks at each other whilst giving it the big'un.

Ponta86 you sound like just the kind of childish numpty who would resort to violence if someone other than a Stokie celebrated next to you. Why?
Which part of your under-developed self-esteem do you feel under attack?

By all accounts and hearsay, media snippets etc, Spurs are the major players nowadays and have the 'most active firm' (copyright 1 of the Brimson plums) in the country.
and I remember the cup game v Everton - sat in my car and watched over 200 go toe-to-toe.

Make no mistake about this, Football violence has not disappeared from premiership football, it is not reported by the press, Anyone remember the on pitch battle a few years back between Fulham and Chelsea at loftus Road? Some of the most active "firms" are in the Premiership and will be relishing a trip to Stoke. Home office stats: www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/football-arreststatistics-2007?view=Binary

WM - I know you're a decent bloke and I admire your honesty over this issue, but asking the question almost wishes the pillocks into existence.
The club is doing NOTHING about stopping the "lads" from getting in. I know at least 3 banned supporters who are regular Block 19 attenders.
No one checks and the club doesn't care where its money comes from. Unless the checks are rigourous, the idiots will still get in and spoil it for the rest of us.
