Fair play to him really got stuck in when he came on. Limited player but not thrown his toys out the pram when dropped. Made some crunching tackles tonight.

A very limited footballer but he was the right sub at the right time tonight.

He does much of what you would want from a second choice defensive midfield player. When he keeps his discipline, he is decent enough. He could do a good job in place of Clucas as long as Powell was doing well to make up for his lack of technical ability.

Fantastic body on the line block was worth admission fee alone. Long time since we've seen that

He has no talent what so ever 😂 but I don’t doubt his work rate and commitment, he does have that in spades

Much of the criticism of Cousins appears to be based on his job rather than his ability. Defensive midfielders do the boring stuff - break up play and circulate the ball. A good game for a defensive midfielder is one where nobody notices they've done their job - they are unlikely to score, unlikely to play the killer pass and unlikely to be the backs against the wall defender making the last ditch tackle. Cousins is a far better footballer than most posters give him credit for and did a gloriously boring job when he came on. It wouldn't surprise me if he slowly establishes as a first team regular. And no-one will notice.

He is what he is, a good stopper in a midfield 3. He's been excellent for us every time he's played in that system and his mistake at Boro came after we switched to a 2 man midfield alongside Allen.
In these austere times he will prove to be a valuable member of the squad under O'Neill. No frills, no mithering about when dropped but can and will slot in and out to do a job.
Underestimate that type of player at this or any level at your peril because they are worth their weight in gold.

Totally bizarre.....

He can, on occasion, pick out a pass however he understand his job and does it. When he plays Allen/Clucas & Powell can get forward with more confidence

Did what he needed to do last night... got in the way and broke up momentum. He is limited, but we are where we are now.
Also thought Collins did well for the last few minutes, won a couple of important headers and didn't seem phased.

In a backs to the wall performance like last night, I wouldn't get too excited about Cousins running about and getting in the way as that was basically what the rest of his team mates were doing. He's not really very good and our midfield is pretty threadbare, having lost Badou, Etebo and Woods and gained one Blackpool midfielder who may or may not turn out to be alright. It's all about survival for me as the finer points of football won't be discussed on here for a while. For all of our bravery and resilience last night, we're a poor side and yes, we were playing the League leaders, but there was a gulf in class and 9 times out of 10 we'd have lost. I'm very happy that we won of course, but was shocked at the lack of guile or skill on display. Onwards and upwards but the work must continue to shape us into something more cohesive.

Parerra (sp) aside, they had no quality either. That is the league in a nutshell. If you've got 2 quality players you'll be a good side in this league. 3, you'll be an excellent one and 4 will probably see you win the league comfortably

I disagree Dave. Their whole team had more composure and skill I think. Sawyers has so much time on the ball, I like Barkley and their young full backs are good. On any other night we'd have lost, but what MON has brought to us enabled us to chisel out a great win.

Phillip's couldn't even cause problems for the hapless bruno and sawyers, as good as he is, was ineffective. They didn't muster a single shot on target worthy of the name and if we played exactly the same game again it would probably end 0-0. We scored and missed an absolute sitter to make in 2-0. Without diangana, they are marginally less crap than us.

Lower League teams get results all the time against superior opposition, usually through effort, fight and a bit of luck, not to mention the other side having an off day. That's how I see last night. We scored an excellent goal, lost our main threat up front and then defended as if our lives depended on it. All very laudable and we're to be applauded for showing the bottle we did, but marginal isn't a word I'd have used.

Last night we did to WBA what plenty of Championship teams have done to us; which is having scored on the break, then just sitting back and betting on the strong likelihood that players in this division won't break down a six/seven man rear guard. Ultimately leading to frustration for the opponents and increasingly desperate shots from distance hoping to score a worldie. We've had loads of possession in games where we've ultimately lost or drawn due to being unable to break down the defence. I'd say 90% of the teams in the Championship instantly bring into defence six players as soon as they lose the ball and 95% of teams bring everyone back for a set piece.

Best thing about him coming on is that he wasn't Jordan Thompson.
What I mean by that is the manager brought on the right player for the right time. If it were Jones, I predict he would have been eager to get his new signing on the pitch regardless if it was the thing we needed in the game at that moment.

So much more that they were unable to put a shot on target that troubled Butland. They were neat in midfield but lacked glue, composure and fight!

Without him, they arent very good. They can't keep a clean sheet for love nor money and their supporters feel they've no pace to hurt teams who defend properly, not to mention their dislike of a dodgy keeper. They go up, they come straight back down. They are not very good. They are simply less crap than the rest.

He has no talent what so ever 😂 but I don’t doubt his work rate and commitment, he does have that in spades Pulis built a great side with that attribute Have to agree with that, players that were slagged off as per usual but did a good job for us, Walters, Whelan, even Cresswell and Whitehead. I can't understand this strategy of slagging players off as having no talent when a decent manager has seen fit to select them to play. Why not give them some support and encourage them to play the best they can, to be at let committed and give their all, rather than do your best to bring them down. If they end up not being good enough or we can find better then the better they play the more we get for them. What exactly is the point of giving them shit, increasing the prospect they play shit and don't give a shit? How exactly does it help?

I’ll caveat that with all pulisball teams Need a bit of flair like a fuller. And let them play. Not buy a crouch and ask him to do mamas job
