Erf, please tell me you are trying to wind me up! Re-signing someone who only a couple of weeks ago wasn't good enoujgh, but is now deemed to be? Although if its a PAYP it's possible he'd be adding to the dressing room spirit for free - result!

Last I heard he'd been released but TP was going to allow him to train with us whilst he looked for another club .

please dont sign him back up whatever the deal is! Standby player and potential defensive coach? Good in the dressing room? Been there, done that? Good experience and respect from the younger players? Maybe?

Barely good enough for the Championship, can't afford to waste a squad number on him.

That would also look bad to potential new signings, have we missed out on loads of players already so have to sign him as cover? Thats what we had to do last season when we missed out on Hendrie, Diao etc!?

Firstly, since when has everybody taken the NOTW so seriously.
Seccondly, by all reports he's a very good influence in the dressing room and was a large part of building the team spirit that helped us get promoted. By offering him a pay as you play contract, if we evn have, we get the best points of him, his good attitude and influence in the dressing room, without wasting too much money on a player who is sadly no longer good enough, as I doubt he'll play much if ever.
Sounds like a pretty shrewd move to me.

Seems bizzare that he would accept it to be honest. He'll play very, very rarely and if we sign another centre mid he'll end up never getting paid!

I wouldn't have questioned it if he hadn't been named on the official released list - but to release then go back is worrying, like he will need him as TP doesn't expect signings until after season start...

''Matteo is also considering a bid by MLS outfit Toronto and could yet decide to play in the States.'' if i were him i would opt for this, play out any remaining football he has in the states, would be a nice change for him.

If he wants to play then he can sod off!!!
If he wants to train with us then OK!!!
If he wants to help with training and act like Taggart did couple of seasons ago then Brilliant!!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with him training with us while he sorts himself out but should not even be considered for a playing role

In this day and age if Pulis says that Matteo is a great person then i for one would be more than happy for his character to remain at Stoke.

Would seem a strange move for Matteo . He must know he won't get the games in the premiership . Only thing I can think of is that he may see it as the first step in getting into management .
Sound's a good deal for Stoke though . An experienced ex premiership player who by all accounts was a good influence in the dressing room last season basically working for nothing !

I follow the sentiments, the guy is passed it on the pitch, but his experience could be vital in the dressing room, a coaching role would be good for him.
In Tone we trust chaps...Im sure that there is some logic to this strange twist of events.
