Try Costa or Starbucks, failing that you can now buy drinks in cans or bottles from most establishments should you require a drink.

Anyone know where is best to drink for away fans in Huddersfield? There's a superb old real ale pub called the Slubbers Arms not too far from the ground, but I'm not sure if it will be open pre-match as I don't think it always opens at lunchtime

Well worth it if it is open. Sadly, I'll be driving

The Grove (quite near the station) is a good pub if you like a variety of proper ales from a myriad of breweries.
It's about a 20 minute walk to the ground from there.
If you're a fan of generic pubs that sell Carling in plastic pint pots then there's a Toby Carvery/Harvester-esque establishment called The Rope Walk right next to the stadium.

If coming by train, you could try 'The Head of Steam' in the station building itself, but I don't know what their away supporter policy is. Also, is 'The Gas Club' social club still going, closer to the ground?

In the Fartown area where the Rugby league team and Yorkshire cricket club once played. Also a pub in the centre called the Plumbers arms right from train station and near bus station they often get mixed up. Actually 2 good real ale bars on each end of the train station townside platforms, and also 2 Wetherspoons in the centre. Remember the centre being fractious in the past though!

Fartown is not the best area to visit these days, its quite stabby and a little bit shooty.

Even back in 1978 was a bit dodgy round there, went to the pubs before for Bradford Northern v Leeds Rugby League play-off game at the then Huddersfield RL ground which also sited cricket ground where Yorkshire used to play. Was a bit naughty at the ground too, recall seeing commentator Eddie Waring scarper when trouble broke out around him at the end of the game between the 2 sets of supporters.
