Two things are important.
1. In a democracy, we respect the verdict of the people, however much we dislike the outcome.
2. We respect the verdicts of the judges on matters of law, again even if we don't like them.
The one example of the latter not being respected was the headline in the Daily Mail "Enemies of the people" with photos of the those concerned after a legal ruling over Brexit which did not suit their political stance.
I worry about the role of social media,sometimes backed by wealthy but unaccountable individuals and organisations who attempt to manipulate public opinion, usually by "dishing the dirt" on opponents which now seems to have become normalised.

I agree, but I don't think we have reached the situation as in the States where appointments to the Supreme Court are blatantly political |
