Anything that has surprised you since taking the job?Probably the only thing is the nature of the games and how quickly they come and your preparation time, turning it round every three days. I knew my players better with Northern Ireland after eight years, but here’s I’ve had six weeks and that’s probably been the biggest challenge. Also, the margin in the games, you can only play well for a little time and that can be enough to win games. When I look back at the games we’ve lost, we possibly could have picked up two or three draws which would have given a slightly different complexion. We really weren't in a position to appoint someone who needs to get used to quick turnaround between matches. Thats not a dig at MON just another question mark over the boards decision making

He needs to work out how to control the midfield somehow. Is he getting magic beans for Xmas? Not from me

By ditching this abysmal 4-3-3 system he's blindly persevering with even though we haven't the players to play it. Oh and maybe just maybe give our only creative player (Powell) in the 35 man squad a start rather than expecting him to do some minor miracle in the 5 minute cameo role he gets each week. Which formation should we play? Four four two without a right winger and a midfield if Allen and Clucas? Wing backs with no left wing back? No formation suits this rag tag shower of shit Our squad has been built by 4 different managers for 4 different systems so is it a surprise nothing fits? I don't like 433 especially the way we play with the wide 2 not tucking in but O'Neil used the system with NI and under Rowett we did better with that formation than any in the last 3 seasons. We need stability and a formation that the players are familiar with - sticking with a formation (even if it is 433) is probably better than switching things around week in week out. It's going to take at least 2 summer windows for us to get a squad suited to any formation.
