Very versatile and very Elvisy. RIP In more ways than one: Scott had more US singles (19), in a shorter period of time (41 months), than any other recording artist except for The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino and Connie Francis. He wrote all of his own hits, except one: "Burning Bridges."
It has been said that "with the exception of Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley, no white rock and roller of the time ever developed a finer voice with a better range than Jack Scott, or cut a more convincing body of work in rockabilly, rock and roll, country-soul, gospel or blues". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Scott_(singer)Incidentally BJR, I have a version of every official Elvis vinyl LP released in the UK (+ a few others like Canadian tribute) apart from the HMV ones, which have always been too expensive, and bootlegs, which I don't approve of.

I'd have thought that your collection is worth quite a bit. When I was younger I can remember trying to build the best hi fi system that I could afford, pioneer deck, wharfedale speakers or B and W , Leak amplifiers, shure cartridge, can't remember the rest. I couldn't get rid of the static, really annoyed me, so when CDs came in I virtually gave my collection away , much Roxy music, Dylan, Rod Stewart and Stones as well as Elvis.

Genuinely never heard of him! He has continued to perform and extremely popular in the rockabilly fraternity. There were literally hundreds of singers in the US trying to emulate Elvis. Every record label was trying to push their man. Imperial - Rick Nelson, Capital - Gene Vincent, Chess - Chuck Berry, Speciality - Little Richard, Liberty - Eddie Cochran, Coral - Buddy Holly; there were loads, Carlton had Jack Scott, who had a few moderate hits, but never made it big. Incidentally Cameo Parkway's star Charlie Gracie is still performing and comes to Britain each year. theaudiophileman.com/jack-scott-rock-interview-bear-family/

Genuinely never heard of him! Nor me. I must admit when I clicked on the thread I assumed it was going to be about the weatherman. Having Googled him, I see now that that particular Jack Scott went to meet his maker in 2008. RIP to both of them.

Genuinely never heard of him! Nor me Tricky, like 95% of our signings since Hughes got the sack I can honestly say I've never heard of this fella. I didn't wish him dead though, so RIP Scotty, whoever you may be!
