Thought I'd get a positive thread going, to counteract the predictable negative bile that will inevitably be spewed on here tonight by the usual suspects.
Cousins - Another strong performance and didn't put a foot wrong again, got man of the match. The position should be his to lose from here-on out, and means we can focus more money on the positions we need to build upon.
Ince - He's put a lot more effort in his performances these last two games in terms of the defensive side of his game, I hope he keeps it up. Although not a lot worked out for him tonight, I thought he made some positive runs, and came close with two of his chances (perhaps should have done better for the second).
O'Neill - Although the game was scatty, he noticed where we were lacking at half time and subbed Edwards (deservedly), Smith looked a lot better going forward. This shows me that he is making tweaks, and has the ability to see where things are going wrong, which has been a huge problem with his predecessors. He went absolutely apeshit when Ward turned backwards at the end, he's obviously not happy with how negative we were and I think (hope) he'll be giving some players a right kick up the arse.
A valuable point and another clean sheet - Yes we should have gone for the win, perhaps the sub of Hogan instead of Diouf was incorrect in hindsight, but it's another point on the board where the teams around us have gained none (bar Barnsley). Deep down I think any Stokie would have taken our tally so far at the beginning of MON's appointment.
With the January transfer window coming, I think MON will bring some players back from loan, and hopefully ship a few out (Badou and Etebo), meaning we can invest in places where we need improving. I thought Lindsay and Baath did ok, but we have Cap to come back, and that can only be a positive.
Overall, we really needed to steady the ship before the transfer window opens, we've done that, and we've also got some valuable points on the board. I believe if we carry on, we'll survive this season.
