Not the first time I've suggested this but surely it's high time for a separate politics/current affairs board on here?
Currently there are 10 (this makes 11) threads concerning politics on the first page, many of them crossing over with one another and needlessly clogging up the board. I appreciate there's been an election on but the subject dominates the Everything Else board for the majority of the time and can be a bit overbearing to some especially given the hostility of some of the content which takes a lot of the fun out of the forum. Can't remember the last really funny thread on here tbh.
Now that the election is over, (and hopefully it'll be the last for a while) it's a perfect time to give the subject a place of its own.
Thoughts?

I'm torn personally, I rarely venture onto such threads as a) I'm not terribly politically minded b) probably due to a) I'm not that well informed and c) it always seems to be the same posters posting the same thing in a different way, reminds me of the rows about Pulis.
On the other hand I'm not sure how much interest there's be in this place without those threads.
It's tricky.

On the other hand I'm not sure how much interest there's be in this place without those threads. It's tricky. You're not very good at the alphabet either by the looks of things.  |

Keep everything where it is the posts make for an interesting read sometimes. You don't have to contribute if you don't want to. Totally agree. I love reading EE on the Oatcake and It has become part of my early morning ritual ( sad I know). The politics can be quite informative and entertaining, and if you don’t like it just don’t read it. We have just as a nation come through one of the most traumatic political periods of my lifetime, and so debates such as we have recently seen are bound to have been prevalent. Our forefathers did not have the advantage of social media, as we do, and could only be informed by the biased misinformation fed to them by the institutionally manipulating press. Read, contribute or ignore. Most importantly Enjoy. |
