For some reason my Canon Power Shot Sx 720 lens zooms out fully as soon as I turn it on. Then I can't zoom it back in. However if I turn it off it does go in so it can't be stuck. If when I turn it on I hold the button to the left it won't zoom out but as soon as I let go it then happens. As I say it cant be a stuck lens otherwise it wouldnt go back in when I power off would it. Basically I've lost all control of zoom in out currently. I don't have any idea but I had a look and found these that may be of use if you haven't already tried any of them. & Which sounds a little similar to yours in that it could be that the zoom switch/button is the issue community.usa.canon.com/t5/PowerShot/zoom-and-shutter-button-problems/td-p/212797*I've had similar Canon cameras apart and am familiar with that zoom-shutter combo switch. The switch itself is both mechanical and activates electrical responses like the zoom and shutter and either or both might be to blame. You could have some dirt or sand inside the switch causing the button not to press down or the switch internally has failed perhaps broken. Underneath the switch is a flexible printed circuit board that the mechanical parts of the zoom and shutter switch activate. That board could have failed or I have seen those boards come loose in which case the mechanical switch no longer makes contact at all or intermittent contact at times. That would not explain your shutter switch not able to be pressed down. That most likely is either dirt or a failure of the switch. Having said all that here is what I would try. First take a vacuum and suction out that switch while moving the zoom lever and pressing the shutter button in hopes or removing any dirt inside. Test it's operation if Ok then let it be. If not then get some DeoxIT® Gold G100L, Squeeze Tube soluttion. Drop a couple drops inside the switch and work the lever and button then test it out. You can get the Deoxit spray but you have less control over the application. It is completely safe for all plastics and rubber but you don't want it getting into the lens or sensor so cover the rest of the camera and be careful, pratice first. Your last resort is sending it in for service.* There was nothing else posted after that on that forum though. Thanks appreciate your help and effort. Will try a couple tonight.

IMG_0051.JPG .... Hercules moth downstairs at our place last weekend. It is the largest moth in the world. However, this is only the male which is tiny. The females are huge (almost twice the size.) The largest specimen ever was caught in Innisfail just up the road. I have seen it at the butterfly farm in Kuranda - it is like a bird

Help needed Walkers Nature Lovers.
I've visited Coombs Valley. It's great.
Can anyone recommend any decent places for Wildlife Spotting in the Leicestershire/Derbyshire area or even places in the peak district. I've seen and think I been to once carsington water.
I appreciate with Wildlife it's luck of the draw. Just wondered if people knew of spots that's weren't too busy and had a chance of seeing rarer birds birds of prey and other animals.
Thanks in advance. I've seen a Lesser Spotted Wood pecker Hawk anda Stag on camera so I've not done too bad so far.Just love this hobby.
