This virus is brilliant for the wildlife. The bird song in a morning is definitely louder and more vibrant this year. I might be going insane though.

.... did my usual Bicton Hill walk today. 6km from home & back. First & last along the beach. Saw the Beach Thicknee that is usually there (Stone Curlew to you.) Used to regularly see a Cassowary up the hill, but not for ages. Autumn here, only got up to 28 deg today (monsoonal rain as well.) At least the local constabulary are still letting us out to exercise

Am I right that I've seen and taken a photo of my first YellowHamner Lovely photos and a beautiful bird, sadly I believe it's now on the RSPB's endangered list so your lucky to see one really. Not seen one in years, used to be a common sound as I biked around the countryside as a kid. Famous for its "Little bit of bread and no Cheeeeeeeese" song.

Consider the amount of wildlife that relies on food us humans leave lying around in cities and touristy places. How is that wildlife surviving now? Not that it's good they survive on our leftovers in the first place or that we built on their natural habitat.

Not a great walker but did do the Forrest Fenn treasure hunt over a couple of months in the Rockies whilst recovering from a broken ankle after a motorcycle accident in Asia. Actually during this lock down have been studying it again, for those who don't know it, an American hid a box containing gold coins and nuggets and wrote a poem giving clues. Have decided will do again next year. Is not about finding it but the fun of the places you look and great views and walks etc.

Anyone seen their first Swallow yet?
I'm up in the Peak, usually some days later than the tropical South , it would be nice to know they're on their way.

There are some great walks in the Peak District. I love the circular walk from near the Roaches via Lud's Church and Three Shires Head waterfall. There are some lovely little valley walks, but I can't remember the names. Most of my favourite walks are in the Hebrides. The main reason I didn't move to live in the Hebrides is because I like live music, cinema etc. too much. If only I'd foreseen what was going to happen, I'd be there now. Anyway, there is loads of bird-life out there, particularly in the Outer Hebrides. If it's near your home, you're allowed there for your daily exercise?

They're out and about in ones and twos. saw the first around 10 days ago and yesterday a couple were low flying over the grass in the field while I was out with the dog.

The Roaches has to be one of the best walks within easy striking distance of a big urban area in the country. The other side from Stoke, from Ramshaw rocks to Gradbach, could be the middle of the highlands. You'd never guess you're 30 minutes away from Hanley. I've just talked myself into a bike ride that way this weekend.

Anyone walked the south west coastal path. Definitely on my list when I finally become a billionaire. I’ve done small walks on the SWCP and I’d love to do the lot one day. Former Mott the Hoople bassist Peter Overend Watts wrote a brilliant book about the SWCP. Well worth a read.

For some reason my Canon Power Shot Sx 720 lens zooms out fully as soon as I turn it on. Then I can't zoom it back in. However if I turn it off it does go in so it can't be stuck.
If when I turn it on I hold the button to the left it won't zoom out but as soon as I let go it then happens. As I say it cant be a stuck lens otherwise it wouldnt go back in when I power off would it.
Basically I've lost all control of zoom in out currently.

If when I turn it on I hold the button to the left it won't zoom out but as soon as I let go it then happens. As I say it cant be a stuck lens otherwise it wouldnt go back in when I power off would it. Basically I've lost all control of zoom in out currently. I don't have any idea but I had a look and found these that may be of use if you haven't already tried any of them. & Which sounds a little similar to yours in that it could be that the zoom switch/button is the issue community.usa.canon.com/t5/PowerShot/zoom-and-shutter-button-problems/td-p/212797*I've had similar Canon cameras apart and am familiar with that zoom-shutter combo switch. The switch itself is both mechanical and activates electrical responses like the zoom and shutter and either or both might be to blame. You could have some dirt or sand inside the switch causing the button not to press down or the switch internally has failed perhaps broken. Underneath the switch is a flexible printed circuit board that the mechanical parts of the zoom and shutter switch activate. That board could have failed or I have seen those boards come loose in which case the mechanical switch no longer makes contact at all or intermittent contact at times. That would not explain your shutter switch not able to be pressed down. That most likely is either dirt or a failure of the switch. Having said all that here is what I would try. First take a vacuum and suction out that switch while moving the zoom lever and pressing the shutter button in hopes or removing any dirt inside. Test it's operation if Ok then let it be. If not then get some DeoxIT® Gold G100L, Squeeze Tube soluttion. Drop a couple drops inside the switch and work the lever and button then test it out. You can get the Deoxit spray but you have less control over the application. It is completely safe for all plastics and rubber but you don't want it getting into the lens or sensor so cover the rest of the camera and be careful, pratice first. Your last resort is sending it in for service.* There was nothing else posted after that on that forum though.
