We need a striker who scores goals and it appears on current evidence we still don't have one on the books. It's criminal after the money that's been spent. Relying on defenders and midfielders to score is not the way forward yet we've been doing this for years now. Great win tonight though so that's a positive We’ve scored 11 goals in 6 games under O’Neill. It’s great to have a prolific striker but ultimately if we keep that ratio up irrespective of who scores the goals we’ll be ok.....

Scary isn’t it - there was moaning that we couldn’t score more than two goals in a game and we’ve hit 4 and 3 in two of his six games and there is still moaning.

We will still benefit if we get in a striker who scores goals.. after all it's a necessary part of their job description. It's been a while since we've had one and it's an important factor in their efficacy. Yes I'm happy with the win.. very happy but we haven't been a prolific scoring team for a long time and lack of effective strikers is a major factor.

We are not out of the woods by any means and whilst 3 wins in 6 is a major improvement on NJ, we have a January window coming up and hopefully a big part of that will be getting in a striker who scores goals regularly, as far as I'm concerned. As I said really happy to get the win and the goals but that doesn't prevent seeing room for improvement. My guess is the manager isn't resting on his laurels and is also thinking about issues such as this. That's hardly moaning.

Good effort but poor at what he’s meant to be good at. Diouf seemed to do way more in his cameo.

Great win tonight though so that's a positive I think that Afobe is perfect for the role of striker in this team set up. He needs a strong welcome back when fit again next season. He can score goals with the right service and is more dynamic than Vokes.

Purely in my view and to put Vokes into context for tonight, Diouf, in 10 minutes or so, won more balls in the air and on the ground than Vokes won in the previous 80 minutes and also moved a damn sight faster and more effectively.

Can't help but feel that we missed a trick with Gayle, if we could've got him that is. But Afobe has something to prove for us and brought a good reputation with him. I still hope we get in someone in Jan.. ffp allowing of course

Perhaps I’m completely wrong.
Because of the current lack of competition in the wide areas MON uses Vokes to hold play up and allow support from the likes of Allen and Clucas.
He’s already stated that we are to slow to attack the final third of the pitch. If Vokes can (in the final third);
1. Stop opposing centre halves coming forward 2. Create time and space to allow others to get forward 3. Win free kicks 4. Win corners 5. Score from set pieces
He’s done a job for the team. Hasn’t he?

In the first half he won five headers and a bloke behind me went mental when he lost out on one. Lazy arse, fat bastard etc. He then cheers when Diouf wins a couoke regardless of the fact that diouf has 10 mins to play and their team are stretched and fatigued. Vokes gets unnecessary flack.the manager has chosen him, try supporting him.... Now there is an idea
