Mixed at best tonight - plenty of possession but we did little with it and our penetration vs an adequate but not great defence was pretty woeful tbh. For me MoN did ok on the night but there's so much to do on the training ground before enough players get the instinct to make good decisions under pressure. Tactically I felt like he and Neil Harris came out around equal but our squad don;t believe in themselves and Cardiff's do, that's the difference. To survive, and hopefully finish mid-table, we need to be killers and we're way off that.

Full back selections were poor. Although he seems to have no choice with Ward.
Wrong formation without McLean.
Didn't think we played badly just lacked cutting edge which for me was down to the above.
Vokes substitution was poor.

3 - poor starting 11 and then weird subs. Can't blame him altogether for the losers he's been left with, but playing Vickers at fullback, Ince still in the team , makes you wonder.

Thought the starting 11 should have been fine. I think Carter Vickers is a surprisingly solid fullback and more physical than Edwards. Badou had to come in as he's our best midfielder although he was disappointing tonight but that's not the manager's fault. Ince is our only winger so has to play but he's got to cross at the first opportunity rather than all this turning away from players then cutting inside. Disappointed that O'Neil hasn't got that message through to him. Clucas if fit had to play after his Barnsley exploits but again was disappointing. Vokes coming on seemed to make sense as we were booting it long and needed to win a few headers which he should do but didn't. Thought Powell looked our most accomplished player when he came on. Hogan was strange but I suppose O'Neil felt he deserved a chance. Hopefully after that display he'll send him back in January. Bonus points for talking about aimless possession instead of quoting possession stats to prove we were unlucky.

6- he's still learning about the squad.
He's an intelligent coach and won't make the same mistakes twice.

7* He made substitutions at the right time but the choices seemed a little odd. He gets benefit of any doubt right now though, as let's face it, he's hamstrung by the previous chancers.

I thought the tactics were purposeful, the execution in the final third were just awful. I'm docking him a point for subbing Vokes and a point for not using Etebo, but I guess he's just using the short week to try out some players to see what he has. He'll quickly find out he has a bunch of shite.
