Fucking hell there was a can we get promoted thread 2 days ago
Unfortunately one of those nights, lack concentration for a second and they score from a throw in. Bad goal to concede. Similar to the Sheff Wednesday game where 1 error cost us (story of our season) in conceding a poor goal which denied us from a decent away point.
Go again, big game Saturday with a win giving us a very good week. Would've 100% taken 3 points from tonight/Saturday

Yes but it’ll be tough.
That never changed. The promotion talk and people weirdly believed it was always just bullshit and very odd.
MON has a massive job on his hands. From the position where Jones left us, it needed a miracle. That still stands.

Can we survive its getting harder when we lose to very average sides like Cardiff. A win on Saturday is a must or we are back to square one.

From the position where Jones left us, it needed a miracle. That still stands. We will all just have to wait and see how it all pans out. I suspect that MON will get the team playing better (not a massively difficult task at the moment) but enough to grind out results. I just have a feeling that MON will buy what is needed in January (budget players maybe), but players that will do a job, and not the fucking shites that we have been blessed with over the last few years.
I feel far happier today than I did about three weeks ago when that shit Jones was at the helm.

Yeah we’re not cut adrift but we’re one or two results from it. Hence why thinking it’s a shoe in is daft imo. He’s got massively tough job and us surviving will mean he’s done excellently. If we go down, he has no blame. The damage was already done.

Somehow MON has got to find a way of getting this useless bunch of defenders and keepers,to keep clean sheets. We can't rely on our strikers having to score 2,3 or more goals to win games. With clean sheets, we will at least have a chance of nicking games 1-0.

If you think we are going down, you can get 5/1 with Bet365, or you could before tonight, £500 on a £100 stake, lump on it if you think there is any chance it will happen, I think there is, we really are piss poor.

Don't think the chances have altered with that result. Two wins out of three for the rest of the season will keep us up. The important match is Saturday. Two defeats and another home defeat would show nothing's changed.

We'll be OK once he's had a few games to assess what works and what doesn't and by that time he'll be able to get the 2 or 3 players he needs in January.
I'm 100% confident we'll be OK by March.

I've no doubt that we'll be fine. A win on Saturday will get us back on track. There's no doubt that we need to be tighter at the back and create more chances but I'm certain that this will be addressed.

If we can keep in touch until January and then make the obvious signings we need to make, we'll be fine. O'Neill needs a bit of luck between now and then as he has the same bunch of players making the same mistakes as they were under Jones. The difference is that I trust O'Neill to get something from games.

I’m not sure
It will go to the wire
Got the right manager in but the players have got to step up and start fookin believing in themselves and gelling together. If we carry on like we did last night......
Then no.
I’m pissed off today.
It’s soooooo fookin frustrating

We can if we can turn performances like last night into 0-0’s and if the manager can somehow turn us into a more direct side going forward.
As things stand we have ‘relegation’ written through us like a stick of Blackpool rock. Poor defensively and blunt in attack.
If we do stay up the bloke has done a magnificent job ..... and shame on what went before to put us in this situation in a League of mind bogglingly low quality.

Yes, we can. One game at a time folks. Let's get out of the bottom three and gradually climb to safety before any further knee jerk shite like the threads about promotion etc. We have a decent manager, who's known to favour a pragmatic approach, rather than an expansive style of ballplay, so get used to it.

Problems clear for all see. Probably the best midfield in the division with 3 of Badou, Etebo, Clucas and Powell. Poor defence that Shawcross will improve and limited options up front. The biggest criticism of Jones given his obsession with the diamond is the state of our full backs. We need 2 full backs, a quick striker, Verlinden back and Diouf match fit. We would then have options and be fine but the weaknesses in key positions currently limit our chance to progress

Which of course means the bookies think Stoke have a slightly better chance of staying up. Best you can get for the latter is 1/8. I agree with you that 'we'are piss poor. O'Neil is not going to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. So let's see what he can do in the transfer market. That will be the real test.

A win on Saturday and we are still bottom 3
This is an unforgiving league where we simply have to now win pretty much all of our home games in to finish safely
Saturday is, yet again, massive

We have to do everything to stay in touch with the group above us until he can make changes to the squad in January. That might give a little more confidence to any potential newcomers that we’d be a worthwhile choice
