Long before the end it was obvious that Jones was out of his depth. Who knows how well O'Neill will do but as a solid professional manager he organised the team and made the tactical change needed within 24 HOURS!! It will be really interesting to see how well Jones does in his next job. I'd prefer never to here Jones name mentioned....ever! Just want to forget his disastrous reign completely.

You know... I wonder how long it will be before we get a report of a player or manager trying to commit or actually committing suicide due to abuse received on social media.... you’ve seen reports of it all before especially with that young girl from Little Mix. Young footballers and young managers take a hell of a lot of shit but apparently it’s acceptable because we’ve paid our money and it’s football. Nathan isn’t here yet is still getting abuse and being dragged up on this site. You may say that he won’t look at it but some people can’t help but look at what people think of them. Look at what Clucas said, “young players look at social media to see what the fans and media have said about them after every match. ” I don’t see the point in levelling such hate towards a guy who yes didn’t do the job for us, tried his best to succeed and seemed to genuinely care about the club. He failed and that in itself can knock a guy down mentally. Also the taking the piss out of the god willing and his religious side it’s just mental that people will use that against a guy.
He believes in god he uses god in his life and words why is that such a problem for people ?

People are more than willing to call the guy "an arsehole" hidden behind a computer screen, put the majority of them in front of the person they are slating and they wouldn't say boo, they would probably shake his hand and have a selfie.

Some people must be really missing Jones. What is the point of this thread? Didn't we spend enough time hurling insults while he was here? Yes he made mistakes but he tried his best and failed not through any malice to the club or lack of effort so give it a rest please. Yeah he has been gone a whole 2 weeks now - fucking move on people!

Looks like Jones definitely had an interview with Hibs but seems their final decision was Jack Ross. SPL might have been good for him. I can see him ending up back in League 1 now.
Unless Hearts make a move for him.

Jones is a weird one for me.
He took on a team that was dying and has effectively given it the coup de grace, however I don’t find myself having the same dislike for him as I do other previous managers despite Jones being arguably our worst ever manager, it’s strange.

Who in their right mind would seriously offer this guy a job? Only in football.

So seemingly Hibs then until they came to their senses.

I think that we should start leaving Mark and Rowett alone. They worked very hard, and did their best. It just didn’t work out that’s all.

Really never gotten that vibe, seemed very genuine and I've little doubt worked incredibly hard. A good man who did his utmost for us. Sadly fell short. I rarely get angry about headlines in this forum, but this is a shameful title.

Wrong time wrong place for him. It happens. Worked tirelessly to make it happen and I think that was respected by the fans who attend. He received very little abuse on match days despite a disastrous run of results. Unfortunately this board is so full of arseholes who can’t let it go. No need for this thread. Truth will out when he returns with another team. I’m sure he will get respectful applause.

Other than that he had great support from the fans. Has he had some abuse on here, yeah some but Ive seen worse. Not sure any of it was hate. Let's not gloss over the fact that hes been paid an obscene amount of money for this. I'd quite happily let you kick in the bollocks once a week and have 5,000 people called me a cunt for 9 months if you paid me what he got paid. Sometimes people need to take a look at themselves.

I don't get the real nastiness towards the bloke. So he believed in his ability having done well in another job? Won't be the first or the last to do so and think he can succeed elsewhere. I think we all know what a shambles we'd become. The fault really is that the powers- that- be didn't recognise(or heads in sand, didn't want to see) that and appoint somebody with maybe a little more gravitas having already seen Rowett fail miserably. Only time will tell if they've got it right this time but I'd say O'Neill has a pretty decent reputation and commands a certain amount of respect already in the game so if he can't get a song out of this group then we will know what a shower they all are Nathan got it wrong. Yes, he talked too much at the start and gave himself one huge, almighty uphill battle and yes, it seems he really wasn't ready for this type of job yet. We need to give the guy a break. He tried and failed. He looked very stressed at times and remember, his stress is in the public eye. I'm not sure he's sitting there now checking his bank balance with a smug grin on his face when his career could potentially, even if temporarily be in tatters.

Some very early attacks here.He was shite but the players let him and the club down don't let a win at Barnsley think we are any way out the woods.I wouldn't trust this shower of shit players not to fuck up regularly. The players were very rarely used correctly by the manager.

If a player or manager were to commit suicide because of the abuse would you call him a snowflake because he’s now paid a fuck ton of money and those before him weren’t and accepted it?

The first thing anybody who tries to understand about depression finds out is that if you have adequate money to live on and provide the basics, the amount of money you have has no bearing on how likely you are to suffer from depression. However constant job pressure or bullying especially via social media does exacerbate depression. The difference between today and the past is that most reasonable people accept depression as an illness which can affect anyone and try to show sympathy instead of ridicule.
