It's going to further devastate their business. Christmas has come early for their competitors..... and also people finding alternative methods of bypassing an institution that's making itself not fit for purpose.

This is just Asset Stripping and is being facilitated by the Conservative Government The first step was to Privatise a 500 year old British Icon and Public Service The Parent Company is International Distribution Services (IDS) in which the Czech Billionaire Daniel Kretinsky owns 25%+ Kretinsky has a personal wealth of $5B and also manages the $15B his wife Anna will inherit from her recently deceased Father. He also happens to own 27% of West Ham with options to purchase outright Kretinsky has no interest in Royal Mail with Posties delivering letters and a hello to remote areas as a Public Service. The Jewel in the Crown of IDS is GLS the International Parcel Arm of IDS which generates the majority of profits with operations in many Countries and a particularly growing presence in North America There is no doubt in my mind the current strike action will hasten the sell off of the International Business under the control of Kretinsky's Investment Company leaving Royal Mail as a standalone and will quickly make thousands redundant, reduce services, limp along for a few years before eventually dying Kretinsky was recently allowed to increase his stake from 22% which triggered an automatic Government review by Law. The review was undertaken by Kwasi Kwarteng (remember him?) who gave the go ahead as "nothing to see here" As an aside Kretinsky recently upped his ownership of Sainbury's from 3% to 10% making him the second biggest shareholder after Qatar Holdings You couldn't make some of this shit up. So no more Sainsbury shopping for you Qatari and/or West Ham haters. www.internationaldistributionsservices.com/en/about-us/our-businesses/

We as a country are caught in a vicious cycle, people need money to live of course but if everyone gets what they wish for then somewhere along the line we all have to pay for it therefore fuelling higher cost of living, I as an ex care worker have to champion carer’s case, they are probably the worst paid of all who worked through covid in extreme danger to themselves for example more than posties or rail workers yet who champions their cause because these fantastic people who look after your elderly relatives will not strike or leave their clients without assistance.

This is a grotesquely managed organisation
Another example of a Public Service Monopoly flogged off for a short term gain (thanks Vince Cable) at a knockdown price of £3.3B and immediately valued at £5B when it hit the stock market
Management decisions are taken to deliberately piss off the workforce so it can be asset stripped and the more profitable divisions flogged off. All that will be left will be the husk which will be the Universal Postal Service which no other Commercial Company will touch
This is the same Management team that deliberately Prosecuted and sent to Gaol people they knew were innocent Some committed suicide being unable to cope with the stress more were Financially ruined
They should be behind bars

The harsh reality of this strike. In the long run the only thing that will make this business model sustainable is reducing the wage bill and more efficiency. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64410443The owner of Royal Mail says the recent wave of strikes at the postal firm have cost it £200m so far. The dispute with workers in the Communication Workers Union has led to 18 days of walkouts since August. Royal Mail owner International Distributions Services said the letter and parcels business had lost £295m in the nine months to the end of December. The firm also said it had been hit by a continued fall in the number of letters being sent and "weaker retail trends".

The number of businesses that have moved away from RM since Christmas is probably in its hundreds.
