Depends if we're kicking towards the Boothen End or Southstand! I’m planning to smuggle the spoil out under Sam Vokes shirt...shouldn’t be hard. Shame Charlie Adam and John Parkin have gone Dunner werrit. Vokes has got more than enough space in his quire simply enorm-arse shorts.

I imagine most would listen to Radio 4 and think it was part of an Open University production 😁 If like me you work from home, you can only take so much of Radio 1 & 2. Classic FM provides some relief, but even that can get repetitive. Radio 4 really does provide some interesting stuff (amongst the dross and The Archers). Clem - if you’re a music fan and get sick of Radio 1 and 2, I’d recommend Radio 6 Music. I only ever listen to Radio 4 and 6 these days (and Radio Stoke when the football’s on of course 😄). Don’t judge it by the first thing you hear - they play a wide variety of stuff - a lot depends on what time of day it is.

I’m addicted to Radio 4 - you just never know what’s coming next. I draw the line at Woman’s Hour though. The odd thing is also - the shipping forecast. After hearing it a million times, I still like the tune that they play . Is it called Sailing Away, or something like that. Then listening to the names of all those places that I have no idea where they are. Rockhall, Fisher, Finistare, Mallin , Hebrides, Bailey ....... Names that I heard when i was small kid. Imagining small fishing boats out at sea in stormy weather.
These boats must have GPS, Radar and all the gear, but they must listen to the forecast.
It's a great tradition and gibberish to my ears but a poetic one

That made me laugh...! The Archers is woeful but for some strange reason find myself listening to it constantly muttering to myself what a pile of old horse shit if is! I know! I've even been known to listen to the podcast to catch up. That’s too much!

Outlook on the world service is always interesting (if you're awake at 4am and can't get back to sleep). Farming Today is also a favourite at the slightly more reasonable time of 5.45am. Most comedy on radio 4 is rubbish though these days in my opinion. Or maybe Stewart Lee brainwashed me.

Mind you I think some of the decline in comedy standards is the opposite of what Mr Lee is talking about - they are very conscious of ticking all the diversity boxes these days and some of the resulting ‘humour’ is a bit childish .....or maybe I’m just getting old.

A thread I feel able to contribute to. 6 and 4 (and 3 in the mornings) are the only ones I will touch. Shaun Keaveny is superb, although Laverne has seriously dumbed down the breakfast slot. Craig Charles on Saturday evenings is excellent if you like funk and soul. 1 is like putting a bucket on your head and having someone whack it with a hammer. 5 is the radio equivalent of the Daily Mail. I am thinking of pitching a show to R4. "Desert Island Cheese". Where you choose your top 8 cheeses and tell amusing anecdotes about your life.

There is still some ok stuff. John Finnemore is good. I agree that a lot of the stuff is a bit 'woke'. The News quiz (which was probably what Stewart Lee was talking about) has gone downhill. It's not like it used to be in the days of Linda Smith and Jeremy Hardy. I'll still listen if Simon Evans or Andy Hamilton are on though. 'Where's the F in News' has been getting pushed quite a lot: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bbp9qq. Yet there's a ban on all male panel shows. Is this a gammonish point to make? Do we need some positive discrimination to change mindsets? Oh. Forgot to add that the Now Show is absolute toss now.

Love Dead Ringers though - their William Hague is superb! I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue is still very good. I once went to see Humphrey Lyttelton’s jazz band live and he autographed his CD for me!

Andy Hamilton had his own show quite recently that was good - talking about various subjects such as sport and religion (I miss Old Harry’s Game). Finnemore is good and I like Miles Jupp but you are right the panel shows generally ain’t what they used to be. I suppose if you are certain age you find certain things funny but some of the younger stuff to my ears just isn’t as well written and only gets on air because the Beeb is constantly trying to do the ‘right ‘thing’.

That bloke Jakob whose currently giving Kate one could be a member of the Scandinavian Supporters Club ! I know Jakob (Paul Venables) and David Archer (Tim Bentinck). Nice blokes. Didn't know about a Stoke City connection though. Love it.

Didn't know about a Stoke City connection though. Love it. Suggest to him that he throws it in as an ad-lib. To be honest the script writers haven’t given him much to work with so far ! (although I’ve always imagined Kate is probably quite tasty)

There is a very good article on O'Neill in today's Guardian. He takes no prisoners, apparently.
