Everything hangs on this next manager recruitment. We CAN still easily avoid relegation. A couple of wins and we back, hopefully, in touching distance of teams who should be at least 10 points behind us.
I still believe we have decent players. Butland - England squad member until this season - Woods - looked red hot at Brentford - Clucas - looked decent at Hull - Ince - any team in this division would have taken him if they had the finance - Gregory - 13 goals last season for Millwall plus decent assist count .... Allen - proven premier player....
Obviously something is seriously wrong and we have made bad signings admittedly. From top to bottom we are in trouble.
I don't really care who the next manager is to be honest. But they need to be able to stand up to the board and be a complete twat on the training ground. It's all about survival in this division for now.
Hell of a job for whoever comes in. A 40 year old Allardyce would do for me. If there is one out there.
I may be totally wrong, but the start of a decent team is there if we can get the right sort of plan and motivation out to our players

Yes there’s still hope as far as I’m concerned, but if we haven’t got a manager in to hit the ground running in the next 48 hrs that might just all but disappear.......

If you accept Badou and Etebo as nailed on starters, we're not going to play Clucas and Woods as well in a midfield four, devoid of any width or creativity. Powell has to come back as soon as possible and we need to persevere with Gregory and Hogan up front. January will give any new manager the opportunity to buy a left back (maybe even a right back as Edwards and Smith are both terrible). Possibly an injection of pace too and that's about it. Ultimately Shawcross and Indi should be our best options at centre back to bring some familiarity and consistency back. But, in the meantime we need to stay in touch with those in and around us with the squad we have and therein lies the challenge for any new manager.

Hope we can find someone to take these players off our hands somehow. It's a pity they are on a lot of money, because there must be some pub teams throughout the country who would be willing to have them.

We are horribly unbalanced, there isnt a single formation that we can play where we are not massively exposed.
On top of that the majority just do not give a shit. Regardless of cost and what level they have played at before they do not want to be hear.
All I can say is they whatever formation or team we put out, wherever possible it must include: Gregory, N'Diaye and Etebo.

This notion that avoiding relegation is easy when we’re already 6 points adrift is very optimistic to say the least. A new manager bounce would only likely take us to parity with the teams above us and anything other than a honeymoon period will see us slide further away.

Gregory huffs and puffs and actually he only got 10 goals last year which is about his lot even in the champ. Allen used to play in the prem, yes but that doesn’t make him a good player. Last night he was chasing Sawyers shadow all game and sawyers never played in the prem. Ince would be bought by anyone in this division? Would he get in WBA’s team, or Leeds, Preston, Swansea etc.. no he wouldn’t. Woods and Clucas both have something about them but this is their level at best. Love optimism but actually it’s the facts we need to be embracing now and the fact is that this is a very poor squad. As such we need a pragmatic, disciplined manager to come in and organise us and hopefully get 40 more points to keep us up, and then we take it from there.

What? Gregory is the cause of our demise? He at least gives his all and has shown he can score at this level. Hogan also has goals at Championship level so pairing them surely makes sense with what we have at the moment.

3 causes for hope, a decent new manager, the January transfer window (with a decent manager) and Ryan Shawcross.

With Etebo in the side and WITHOUT McCLean and Ince we looked pretty damn good v Swansea and Fulham, I can't see why we shouldn't be able to build on that with any half decent manager.

We need to turn our current win rate this season from 1 win in 8 games to about 1 in every 2 (14/31)just to get to the 50 point mark.
That leaves little margin for error with 42 points being about what's required usually for safety.
That leaves little margin for error and is just not going to happen.
