26 Sept 1970 was my first Stoke game a meager 5-0 win against Arsenal. It felt great and got a bit of media attention but it was great to be a Stoke supporter and pride in being one.
49 years on to the day a very different world and feeling. It is one of the lowest points in supporting Stoke who seem to have caused their own demise and it is so hard to watch and disappointment after each game to put it politely now is numbing. Media wise Stoke as in most of that time are well out of the national media spotlight, but with the internet sadly makes it feel worse as some people wallow in the demise and some take so much pleasure out of it, but that's the modern world. Rose tinted glasses give me 1970 again please.

Every club have their ups and downs,we are on a down at the moment, how far we fall and how long that lasts is anyone's guess.
But eventually there will be an up,we will all just have to hope the up is not too far off.

The massive difference now though is that this drop was/is totally avoidable, if our money shitting owners had the first clue what they were doing it would be anyway.

Special day - had to wait till after 11 for MOTD because of some extended political bollocks on the news!

It just illustrates haw far we have fallen when a defensive 0-0 draw at Brentford is viewed by our Manager as an excellent performance. It really is enough to make you weep. Part of me wants us to get thrashed by Forest tomorrow night so that our owners finally forced to act.

None of me ever wants stoke to lose but like most i think NJ fate will be decided by the next international break and hopefully someone to to get an organised system and stability plus wins from the team. I suspect i spoke to you a couple of times last season once at the Wigan thrashing the other later in the season the game was so boring the A14 was more interesting, a cheery chap.

Was that really 49 years ago? Yes I was there. Brilliant match and such an enduring memory for Stoke Fans. I was at a predominantly Wolves supporting school, and even a lot of those fans said to me it was a great match, especially as we had stuffed Arsenal. We must do it again sometime soon. I was on the Stoke end where TC's screamer hit the net. That one almost won Goal of the Season.

Was Crawley worse than losing that FA Cup reply to Blythe Spartans, at home?Or getting relegated from Division 1, with the the lowest points total? Or that humiliating 5-2 defeat at home to Manchester City that sent us to the third tier, with Vale in the league above us? Or getting battered in a 0-0 league 1 play-off semi final at home to mighty Walsall? Or losing 4-0 away to Wigan Atheletic in League 1? It's football. Keep things in perspective.

I 'm as nostalgic as the next person, but for those of us lucky enough, we'll always have those memories, but they make no difference today. In the here and now, we're still supporters of the same club we've always followed. Let's stick with it as we have no other option.

The sentinel must have been monitoring the oatcake and has posted an article on the game, easy journalism.

Much more indelibly printed on my psyche are those cup semi final games.ðŸ˜

I was there in the Stoke End - brilliant game and we absolutely annihilated the Arse who went on to win the double that season.
