Does Scholes have links with PNE? Not anymore, they made sure they closed all of them off when they got rid.

He’s no shrinking violet and he’s got out of this division before. There’s no guarantee a Pulis, Pearson or whoever would command their respect any more than he would. No guarantee, but a higher likelihood? Pearson's mad as a box of frogs, remember Ostrich-gate! Don't forget that Pearson also fought off a snarling pack of wild Romanian dogs using only his dick.

All out for Neil.
He’d be exactly what we need.
Here’s hoping.

This is true but when you think of the size of Jones’ probable pay off it basically sets him up for life so he can go on to make what he can of his career now with total financial security. The money clubs like us pay compared to those lower down really is significantly different. Equally though, Neil turned down West Brom who surely would’ve offered far more than PNE and have much better prospects than us. I just don’t see why he’d take us on now when he’s got a puncher’s chance of being in the promotion mix or getting a bigger job where he might lead someone to promotion. I’m not convinced he will either but I think location wise we are probably a slightly better bet and also our owners seem to be prepared to commit far more money than West Brom’s are. In the cold light of day Jones now is probably a millionaire (at least , maybe twice that) on the back of 10 months employment that didn’t work out. For guys who carried out their playing careers in the lower echelons that’s a hell of a head turner and an opportunity that may not present itself again. P.S Football is mad.

The job he has done at Norwich and Preston are good no doubt, but neither of those clubs had anywhere like the goings on that ours has. This isnt a dig, I want to get onboard with us making this change and I'm reaching out for something.

If experience is the watchword, and we can't get Moyes, Hughton or Big Sam - who are you left with with that kind of profile?
Pulis would be divisive and Pearson hasn't done much for years and is a bit of a nutter.
So who do you look at then?
I think Neil ticks more boxes than nearly anyone else. I think he and Bowyer re the only on-the-up Champo managers, along with maybe Cook, that we could hope to tempt with a big wage increase. And Neil looks the stand-out.
Based on all the 50/1 or less shots..
Moyes Hughton Allardyce Pulis Pearson
Neil
Bowyer Karanka Michael O'Neill (no real track record outside international football) Cook Stendel Adkins Harris Pardew Neville Barton Gomes Keane

Apparently he's a disciplinarian so that might be a positive however some players might not respond well to that. Saw something earlier that Jones was referred to as little hitler by Batth and Vokes & they were glad he was gone (apparently from someone doing work for Bauer) so maybe that's not what they respond to. Who knows, they're all a bunch of shit houses.

PNE fans not taking rumour well... I am sure being a billionaire creates a level of arrogant and let's be honest if she wanted to Denise could buy the town of Preston from her annual salary and not even notice. They should just chill anyway our next manager will be TP.

If Hughton and Neil turn us down, it's got to be Tone, hasn't it? Well of course it has to be Tone. After all he is the only fucking manager in the world with any ability. There ARE only three managers in the world. If two decline - then in the whole world of managers "it's got to be Tone". Give me strength .......
We all know that we’re not going to employ a foreign manager. Realistically no Premier League managers are going to pop down. We’ve tried the best of league one. I’m not saying it’s right but the shortlist the board are willing to look at writes itself.

Not sure how these approaches to other clubs managers go, but surely if we have approached PNE, they simply say no to any approach & that is end of?

Neil could then try and force the issue if he wanted to start talks with us. Bigger wage, bigger transfer kitty, still a bit of pulling power. He'll be tempted by the dosh alone. It will dwarf anything he could ever dream of being on at Preston.

But will he be backed with funds? WBA have a much more modern structure and their recruitment has been impeccable.

Just thinking ahead here, for when Pulis is appointed - does anyone know if Batth has played right back before? No, but if he hasn't, he'll soon be able to add that to his resume!

In addition I suppose you never really know if the West Brom interest was substantiated and he actually made that decision. In my naivety I can’t believe we are setting off on another wild goose chase without some very strong indication that the candidate concerned has at least some interest in taking the job. If we are then heaven help us (again).

I’m not sure he’d be too bothered about a bigger wage for himself at the expense of his own ambitions, he doesn’t strike me as that type.

I'd imagine getting a team promoted to the Prem is pretty high on any up and coming manager's list of ambitions?

Not sure how true this is but I've heard Neil doesn't say much he just writes "WIN" on the white board in the dressing room and then turns round and states all the players down ... How very authoritarian of him! Still, probably best to use simple words that are easy to understand rather than over complicating things with tactical nuances lost on all but those with a higher cause ! what fun! Pick a team, write WIN on the board and p!ss off for a nice glass of Rioja !! job's mine!

It's a mix of Whiskey, Special Brew, Irn Bru chucked in a blender with Haggis and Porridge oats - a pint, down in one.

I doubt, especially given our new-found prudence, we could put forward the kind of money he'd be looking for. It took Everton offering him £6m a year last time and they're a half bigger club who were in far less deep shit. Huge bonus could temp him I suppose, I thought he'd retired from club management but he recently said I do doubt he'd settle for anything less than a premier league Job though. Our board appoint someone who threatened their sensibilities with a few home truths? Even if possible and available, Scholes and Coates couldn't handle a strong character.
