Hoping for a win, would be happy to go to penalties, expecting a defeat.
Come on Stoke - give us a good surprise.

I, for one, am thrilled by the (slim) chance to knock these bastards out of the Cup.

The odd thing about Cup games is that very few people actually use or refer to cups nowadays. For most people its all about Mugs now.

If he wants to play the diamond, he needs to get all players to buy into the diamond and play it in every game to drill them. For now, league points are paramount, so Jones should pick his team for Saturday and then choose tonight's XI from those not down to start that one. For me, Saturday should be: Davies (the guy has to start soon) Smith Carter Vickers Collins Ward Woods Ince Etebo Powell Gregory Hogan So tonight is: Federici (Jack needs a rest until after the international break and the window has closed) Edwards Batth Lindsay McClean Cousins Allen Clucas Duffy Vokes Campbell Is BMI not available? I think he's our 2nd best centre back behind Ryan with Kevin Wimmer 3rd. Bruno and Badou seem to have slipped through a gap in the space/time continuum.......or they've been told by Jones to sit in the naughty corner.

Both would be welcome additions to this stoke team at the moment, maybe if the European window shuts and they’re still here they’ll feature ? Definitely think he needs to bring Bruno back in, anything that might help fix the defensive frailties would be welcome.

"Leeds are a very good side – we saw that on Saturday – but there’s no reason why we can go there and get a result. We have to believe that we can do that.” not for me tonight, seems Nathan has written it off on stoke homepage.

Expect to see BMI make a return tonight, alongside CCV & Batth
Butland back in goal
Vokes and Campbell up top
Clucas, woods and one other in midfield.
Smith and Ward wing backs

He's right in the brown stuff and he knows it. He needs a win and his strongest team out tonight for a trial run and then hone it for Sat'dee.
All this resting players nonsense, it's the start of the season, not the end and they need to man up and find the physical and mental fortitude to play two games in a week and, hopefully, the desire to get behind their gaffer.
As to which one of those is actually the strongest though, I'm honestly not sure tbh.

As to which one of those is actually the strongest though, I'm honestly not sure tbh. I reckon those two games, played in the diamond XI, could help him to work out which of those players should form his best XI going forward, which he should drill together over the next ten days and then stick to after the international break. He should know that by now, but for various reasons, he has not. Time to pick his side and let it gel (hopefully).

Sam Clucas, Mark Duffy, Ryan Woods and Scott Hogan have been out to check the pitch, which suggests they will feature - in some capacity. That's probably a good description of their standards of play lately.

I’ve just heard a leaked team, which is - Butland Batth, CCV, Bruno Smith, Woods, Clucas, Ward Ince Vokes, Campbell The same source called the Preston team correctly. That could’ve been a guess though! We shall see, probably a load of bollocks 😎 Oooooh I’m ITK! Take that chopper 😜

That's fair enough J. but don't forget, depending on how feckless our players turn out to be tonight, he might not get past these two games to hone it & drill it into the spineless feckers anyway.
You'd hope he's had the big boys conversation though behind the scenes about how many games he's got to turn the ship, so you may be right.
Still not sure whch are the hopefuls and which the probables though.

Clucas must be Jones's love child,he certainly hasn't become a fixture in the team because of his performances.

Despite reading the board earlier I had forgotten we were playing. This is either early onset of dementia or it's finally got to the point where I don't give a fuck, saying that, I'm here now.

A win is a win and managers who can't see that should not be managing at all!. As for supporters who think it doesn't matter, these hypocrites would be moaning like fuck if they couldn't get a Wembley ticket.
