Maybe one of the stewards/ bus company staff could be further down the queue line to keep an eye on things- thankless task for them I imagine that's their job, but I doubt there's many of them prepared to get into a confrontation given what they're likely to be on as far as their hourly rate goes. I can't believe there were no police nearby, they stand around all over the place anyway, I can't see that it would matter too much if a couple were located around the bus queue area, seems as likely a place as any for trouble after the match to me.

She's nuts. But then can you believe anything the sanctimonious LibDems say. Reported today they were allowed to receive stolen property by way of a donation, they knew the money was nicked, £2.4m as reported but decided they were not so righteous enough to give it back to their owner. Maybe we should vote on it Jo and if Jo doesn't like the result we'll be sent back like naughty children until we vote for what Jo wants. Can anyone really trust a LibDem? You would never know where you stood, what party they would be in from week to week, which keystone policies they would ditch in a flash. I suppose most of the luvvies mean well but you couldn't make a single spine out of the lot of 'em.

"they stand around all over the place anyway" Exactly! Until they want to get involved that is. It's their selectivity that you can't help questioning. Maybe most of them join up with the best of intentions but after years of thankless duty banging your head against a brick wall, being selective abandoning victims on the basis they're poor and live in the wrong areas, and in the end you are ground down and sucked into going along accepting the way it is because you can't be arsed. Crime then spirals but you know the problem is so big there is fuck all you can do about it and you give up caring, so then the crime gets worse and it's a vicious spiral. Then you get the likes of Swinson saying that on the basis of your sex you shouldn't be punished, If you were a decent police officer you would reach a point where you will ask yourself why bother.

Yeah, and the millions the players are on, c'mon pay the stewards decent pay, give them training, paying more and training would help screen the stewards so you get a better quality and make it worth their while. Paying someone minimum wage to tackle some thugs simply cannot be right and is arguably disgusting given the amount of money they're paying some of the parasitic shit we have on our books.

I jumped the queue I jumped the queue I jumped the queue cause I’m better than you. This seems to be the populist view at the minute. Sadly we live in a society with some absolute scum. Hate queue jumping push ins . Think they're VIP's . But that's a great song by the fantastic divine comedy 👌

I've calmed down a bit now. I'm not in a prison cell. I'm not in a hospital ward. I'm not in the morgue. My pride took a bit of a kicking but to who? Those vile little scum rats. Rest in the knowledge that , you'll always be a good decent person , and they will always be scumbags , and hopefully have a life of scum , to which they belong . While you enjoy a decent and pleasant life as is your character mate 👍

I don't know who's worse, the scum bags or the police Tell that to the poor officer who gave his life on Thursday evening trying to prevent a burglary. I don’t get people’s hatred towards the Police. It’s a far bigger issue than the officers not caring. Our last PM took 20000 off the streets. They probably didn’t attend because they were dealing with other incidents and there just weren’t any officers available. If you want to call anyone scum direct your abuse towards Miss May. Absolutely this . She's married to the owner of G4 security . So less police officers means much more business for her husband's company . She's always been anti police , as was her predicessor Cameron . They couldn't give a shit about everyday people .

Just to reassure everyone, the irate elderly gentlemen was dealt with in the professional manner by my colleagues. Unfortunately he had become disoriented and lost contact with his carer. After a public appeal we were able too reacquaint the gentleman with his family who later thanked the force but most of all the public in reuniting Mr Coates with his loved ones.

What do they deserve my money for?

So, in the abstract sense - divorced from your experience in this context - do you believe that the police should exist in situations like this to intervene or to dispense justice after the fact where that's not possible? And if you think they shouldn't exist, why did you contact them in the first place?

I was having a conversation about this the other day. When the pubs were plentiful the teenagers, who were stood outside, would be policed by the late teens, the late teens in the pub were policed by the twenty somethings and so on and so forth. You were taught boundaries, got tolerant to drink, too tolerant in some cases and learned respect. So what if someone got a clip it was all part of the learning process and you probably deserved it. If anyone was getting bullied someone bigger would usually step in. Nowadays it's all litigation! It's shit! Ha ha, so true. When I started going to pubs in Longton I got a smack every other weekend for being a new face and needing to learn the pecking order. After serving my period of deference all was fine and no long term damage done. It was funny though watching the next generation of young ones serving their time and thinking thank fuck that’s over and done with for me.😂😂😂😂 I say this all the time, you can tell the people who grew up in and around pubs and people who didn’t.. especially younger ones I work with a lad he’s from the sticks and his attitude stinks. I bet he wouldn’t last 20 minutes in Longton before he got a slap!!

Like any other body, if they are unable to provide the service they are charging you for (under threat of violence by the way), they should not be charging you. Having already paid for their protection, I have every right to use them. Just because I don't agree with income tax or council tax doesn't stop me from being able to use the service. There is always room for the police, it is a legitimate role of government to provide this. It should be paid for via a voluntary subscription though.

Sometimes it’s best to face up to people. In South London it goes from a brief exchange to all out attack in space of 30 secs. If someone lets you finish your meal & all that, you’re probably safe. Like the bully at school, give them abuse back & they start to think twice.

Wank isn’t it? It shows that sticking up for yourself sometimes just isn’t worth the aggro when there’s scummy little bellends like this looking for an opportunity to threaten you. Like you I’m not a fighter and couldn’t be arsed getting a record but I would like to, just once, whack one of these bastards right in the face with no reprisals. On this topic, queue jumpers in the pub or on the concourse are dickheads too. I like to think I have a look around and know my place in the queue and then you get some ballbag slot straight in there, catch the eye of the bartender, and order his drink as soon as he gets there. Hate people who don’t respect anything like this, as if they’re above it. And again, you can absolutely guarantee that if you opened your mouth it’d be some double hard bastard who wants to fight you because you dared point out they were being a bad person. Hope you enjoyed your steak nonetheless. Poor bar etiquette is my #1 pet hate. It gets worse the further south you go. I’m in London fairly regularly for work, and it’s always northerners observing the code. Cockney wankers are straight in the bar maids face waving a twenty around every time. This Summer I was in one of my favourite post-work watering holes in that London. The pub was fairly empty when I walked in, straight to the bar, two or three bar staff, roughly same number waiting or being served. One of the bar staff recognised me and being regular and loyal, poured me my pint. I was surprised but grateful, said thank you and went to pay with my tappipty payment App on my phone. Two blokes stood to the left of me at the bar, suited and booted like good old City Boys were furious. "HOW DID YOU GET SERVED BEFORE US?!" one yelled. "The barman recognised me. Sorry, no harm done, you're next." Ten minutes later (that first pint didn't touch the sides), there they were, at the bar, as I went to get my second pint in. "Expecting to be served before us again?!" "Fucking hell mate, the pub's half empty and you're next in the queue." This Mexican stand off happened at least twice more before I decided to leave the establishment. Bloody Alpha male mentalists in suits. Can't stand 'em.

The police are shit. A few years ago my then 14 year old daughter rang me in tears saying she locked herself in a toilet cubicle in McDonald's because about 10 girls and boys were threatening to beat her up.
I told her stay there and I was on my way up. I rang the police and they said on the phone they can't go out to help her as she hadn't yet been beaten up!!! Those were the words.

What was the pub opposite the bus station, The Crown? Mental place that was! Went in the Owd Hut once, after a match, stool jumping, totally mental! I've had many good times in the pubs in Longton and Fenton. The Red House (is it the Malt & Hop now?) was my local for many years. The Crown - the pub itself was a bit mental, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, and a great breakfast was served up. The Owd Hut - there were more fights between women than the blokes! I've seen em many a time rolling round fighting on the pavement outside. when we're you drinking in the red House fella what year before it changed to malt in hops was my local back in the day
