Butland 8, back to the level we all know he possesses. Smith, 6,5 overall a steady game, but stupid challenge for the penalty. Batth, 7,5 steady as ever. Lindsay 7, should have done better for their first goal, but good on the ball. McClean, 7.5 good game in my opinion, should have scored though. Woods 8, (MOM) probably our best outfield player today. Allen 6, worked hard but too easily beaten for their first goal, and then this unbelievable miss as well. Clucas 6,5, still some dodgy passing, but worked ever so hard. Ince 6.5, shows his creativity in patches, but drifts too much in and out of the game. Gregory worked very hard 7.5, but tired in the last 15. Hogan 8, scored two it seems which is very unusual for a Stoke City striker.
Collins 6, not much time to show what he is able to. Campbell 6.5, in the short time still showed ability. Etebo 6, a bit hit and miss after coming on.

Butland 7.5 Just above avg, one cracking save for the extra bit Smith, 6 Just below par for me, -1 from avg for the peno tackle. Batth, 7 Steady didn't do much wrong. Lindsay 7 could've done more for the first like rob said, Got a goal and passed like Pirlo. McClean, 7.5 "Very" good game in my opinion. Tackled, passed and ran on for days up the line. Woods 8.5, (MOtM for me also) Our best player on the day. Joe could learn from him. Allen 4 Abysmal. I couldn't believe he was a PL player watching him today compared to Woods. Worked hard but at fault for the second letting his man past and that sitter, dear lord. Clucas 7 Avg worked at it helped McClean and was trying to get open often. Ince 7, Creative, hit the woodwork and always close for a goal. Gregory 7.5, Best signing of the window for me. Holds up well and looks to score or pass. True team player. Hogan 8, Hogan the Hulk. Great addition and knows where the spot is.
Subs were too late to even comment on then doing much.

Butland 7.5, much better from him today Smith 6, did well getting up and down the pitch for 90 mins but gave away the penalty Baath 7, Solid as ever from the skipper Lindsay 6.5, He looked ok. Good first goal. Good on the ball but his positioning was suspect at times. McLean 8, A lot of powerful running from him today but going forward and defensively. Did very well. Woods 8.5 (MOTM), Mustard. Looks a brand new player under Jones and is finally showing why we signed him in the first place. Allen 5.5, So much effort with so little product. Got ghosted by Huddlestone and of course that dreadful miss. Clucas 7, I thought he had good game today and linked up well with McLean. Ince 6.5, You'd bank on him scoring that effort today. Played ok but went quiet too many times. Gregory 7.5, Brilliant pressing and running again. Could be an unexpected hero this season. Hogan 7.5, Paired well with Gregory in pressing their defence and took his goal well.
Collins 6, Not a lot of time for him Campbell 6, Lads got ability but needs more minutes Etebo 6, Didn't look match fit and misplaced a couple of simple passes when he came on

I can’t believe Batth is getting 7s, he invites pressure with his awful distribution either into touch or a ridiculous long hoof. Need a better all round player, we have conceded 7 in the 3 games he has played

Butland 8 Smith 6 Batth 6 Lindsay 7 McClean 8
Woods 8 Clucas 6.5 Allen 6 Ince 7
Hogan 7 Gregory 8
Lots and lots to like. Great to see Woods firing like he did when he first came.
Edwards for Smith is obvious. Collins for Batth nearly as obvious Etebo for Allen the most obvious of the lot Ince was fine, but love to see Duffy given a chance there.

I agree totally with Grapey's match assessment, and corrective suggestions. I can't help but be amused by people's marks for McClean reflecting what they think of him as a person.

Butland 7 - excellent 1on 1 save, no chance with the goals. Smith 4- added nothing going forward, worse than nothing at the back. Ba’ath 5- left so much space at the back both for the Butland 1 on 1 and the penalty, looks to be the same pace as Vokes. Lindsey 6 - awful marking for the 1st goal, redeemed himself with the equaliser, but some massive gaps through the centre of our defence. McLean-8 played really well, odd lapse but overall impressive
Allen 4- he just has no positional sense at all, and it was an astonishing miss. Woods 9 - MOM, perhaps we are going to see the Brentford Woods. Clucas 7-plenty of effort, but does let his man drift off him around the box. Ince 7.5 - played some clever passes and looked up for it, would have been 8, but really should have scored..
Gregory 8- good hold up play, never gave Derby a breather, excellent set up play for our second. Hogan 7.5- good finish and does have a good turn of pace
Collins 6 - did nothing wrong. Campbell 6 - got his shot on target, showed a bit more willingness to close down. Etebo 6 - no time to impose himself.

Butland 7 - great overall, my 3-legged cat could have stopped that PK tho Smith 6 Batth 5 - out of position quite a bit, too many Shawcross style diagonal long balls Lindsay 6 McLean 8 Woods 8 Allen 1 - couldn’t be any worse Clucas 8 - the gingey looks much improved Ince 5 - don’t understand why he’s out there Gregory 8.5 - finally have a bit of quality and pace in the final third Hogan 8 - worked well with Lee

Butland - 7 that was more like it from him.
Smith - 5 didn’t do much Batth - 6 did alright, was shaky at times Lindsay - 7 looked very decent McLean - 7 was very decent to be fair
Woods - 8.5 did very very well today! Allen - 2 was shit! That miss was criminal Clucas - 7 had a decent game, put in some decent corners too. Ince -7 he tried hard and was a handful for Derby.
Gregory - 8 he worked his bollecks off, and played with intelligence and nous. Hogan - 8 was a handful throughout the game, and took his goal well.

Butland 8 - More like an International keeper! Smith 6 - Not tight enough for their first, poor challenge for the penalty. Batth 6 - OK but distribution needs to be better. Lindsay 7 - Promising but needs to be more aware of positioning. McClean 7.5 - Good game after a poor first 20 mins (not the only one!) Woods 9 - A deserved MoM performance! Anchored the midfield well, always made himself available for a pass, played simple accurate passes to team-mates and put in some robust challenges. Perhaps needs to look for more forward passes? Allen 5 - Oh dear! I like Joe but he was awful first half, much better second half but really should have done better. Sam Clucas 7.5 - Not been an admirer so far but he played well today with lots of effort. Tom Ince 7 - Played well and put in the effort, unlucky to hit the bar. Not sure he’s yet got the No.10 role sorted, but at least he’s working at it. Gregory and Hogan 8 each - After a sluggish start both showed good movement, willing runs into the channels, and actually look like they might both score goals! Subs: No really enough time to make a proper assessment.

Butland - 6 Did ok - one good save I thought he'd left it too late to charge out.
Smith - 4 Very poor today, never where he needed to be.
Batth - 4 Uncharacteristically poor. Still good in the air but really all over the place.
Lindsay - 4 Did well for the goal but poor apart from that.
McClean - 7.5 First half (Especially the first 30 minutes) was fucking dreadful. Smashed it going forward second half but he still got done from time to time because he isnt a defender. Loved the attitude and effort.
Woods - 6 The good bits: diagonal balls, some neat passing, some really great tackles. Chased someone down to bail McLean out - that was outstanding. The not so good bits: sideways or backwards passing, fucking about with the ball on the edge of our box, getting caught in possession. and being a bit too weak in the tackle.
Allen - 5 First half was satanic. Second half a was better got in some good attacking positions 10/10 shouldve buried that shot...
Clucas - 6 some good link up play but seems to go missing for a lot of the game.
Ince - 6.5 loved seeing him take the fullback on. wouldnt have taken him off. Slightly too lightwieght at times.
Gregory - 8 Brilliant attitude, very strong for a small-ish bloke, great engine and good pace. whats not to like.
Hogan - 8.5 did well again today, convinced he'll be good for us.

Butland - 7 (vital 1 on 1 save)
Smith - 5 (nothing to shout about forward or backwards)
Baff' - 5 (good in a challenge, positionally suspect most games now - way out of position for the penalty build up)
Lindsay - 6 (bit soft, poor for the pen, redeemed a little bit with the 1st goal/assist)
McClean - 7.5 (gets stuck in defensively but rarely wins the ball clearly, quality going forward especially 2nd half)
Clucas - 7 (intelligent runs pulling defenders away, tidy)
Woods - 9 (controlled our tempo in possession, good tackles in there too)
Allen - 3 (our biggest problem and has been for some time. Needs dropping asap, looks like the cogs are whirring in there and he hasn't a clue where to be in this formation. Awful passing and that will be a top 3 miss his season across the division)
Ince - 7.5 (we looked a threat every time he got the ball. Great to see him confident and beating people)
Gregory - 8.5 (my new favourite player. Obviously works hard but has a lot more than that. His hold up play is unreal. Kept the ball a few times when you'd expect him to lose it easily)
Hogan - 8 (allegedly got 2 goals. We look a threat going forward now because of his pace and he's a natural finisher. He's the one who will get 15+ goals, especially if we click)

Butland 7 - fantastic save, and some decent distributions. Has to save a poor pen though
Smith - 6 simply playing him to justify his price tag. IMO not as good as Edwards
Maclean - 6 one decent tackle second half but other than that he’s usually out of position or giving silly free kicks away. Distribution is pathetic
Baath 7 - Dominant and tried his best to hold the back line together
Lindsay 6 - early days but I don’t rate him. Please prove me wrong but for me he’s got a bloody lot to learn
Woods 9 - ran the show
Allen - fucking woeful
Clucas 8- him and woods did well together as Allen went on strike
Ince - 8 a constant threat, turning defenders and put some decent balls in. Very poor miss though
Gregory - 9 all round cracking game
Hogan - 9 see Gregory. Got the makings of a really good partnership
